Tuning to B...
I have looked into tuning to B for some Carcass songs and for my own songwriting purposes, and I am wondering, will I need to setup my guitar any differently? It's currently set for D tuning and I have a Licensed Floyd Trem System. Thanks.

You're gonna have to adjust the springs in the back to keep the bridge parallel to the body. also you might have to slightly change your truss rod setting

Really? I use DR High Beams Light N' Heavy 10-52 and tune to B and it's fine.

Some people including myself find that lighter guages in low tuning are too loose and i just cant trem pick too quick since the string just flops around so much. But its your personal preference and if its good for you dont change.
I uses Dadarrios 13-56 and tune anywhere from drop A to standard tuning. I never set up my guitar when i change string guages or tunings and its fine. Actually the only thing i did have to change are the springs in the trem cavity to make the trem bridge parallel to the body. At first some of the strings were too big for the nut slot but after a while of intense playing the strings ground into the nut and now they fit in the nut slots. Also, the intonation was only about a quarter step or less off, but still sounded perfectly fine to me.

Minor necromancy: What if I wanted to tune to B on a strat-style guitar with a strat style bridge and standard tuners?
I've tried with 11-52 strings and it when out of tune if I played for a decent period of time or if I did any bending at all. Would locking tuners solve this problem or would I need something else?

Well, if by you mean 'strat style' guitar as in a Squire knock-off then it'll go out of tune whether you play it or not. What brand is the guitar specifically?

If its going out of tune, then youll need better tuning machines or a locking nut. Doesnt matter really what kind of guitar it is. If you have a supreme JEM Vai signature guitar with shitty tuners then its still gonna go out of tune.

It's an extremely non-metal guitar (which is somewhat the point): http://www.godinguitars.com/godinfreewayclassicp.htm
For the price it's a very well made guitar and plays great. They make a model with a Floyd and locking nut these days however. Just my luck.
