5643 songs in under 12 minutes, all layed on top of each other with an 8 track or something, might not be good but still brutal [I like it anyway].

Suffocation - Despise the Sun. Frank is maximas brutalus. The riffs / guitar tone are brutal as fuck, and Culross's drum set is fucking heavy sounding, albeit the quiet snare. That alone is the most tastefully brutal album I have ever heard.
Stuff like Devourment and Wormed come off as sorta funny to me.

Do I really need to explain this one?
2. Consume the Forsaken - Disgorge
Probably the best of the "generic" sounding brutal death bands. They're not doing anything out of the ordinary but it is brutal as a drunken Irish couple Found Under Carnal Knowledge.
3. Planisphaerium - Wormed
A little bit different to the usual brutal death band, but no less uncompromising.
4. Molesting the Decapitated - Devourment
An instant cure for constipation such that it precipitates the rapid and violent expulsion of feces from one's bowels. Hopefully one is sitting on the shitter at the time.
5. Annihilation of the Wicked - Nile
Could have been any Nile album but this effort seems to be a tad more brutal than their previous offerings.

I disagree on that. This album, and it's successor, are anything but out of the ordinary, at least from a riffing viewpoint. Sure, some riffs predominately consist of palm muted 8th note chords but some are freaking zany, you have to listen quite closely but there's some real interesting harmonies and shit in places. |

No harm in something being generic so long as it's good. I feel that Disgorge are reasonably generic but I also feel that they're excellent at what they do and stand out above the other generic bands by virtue of their stronger material.

i agree with John. Disgorge are not exactly pushing the boundaries of originality but, while still sounding like a gazillion bands before them, they're managed to create their own identity.
Consume The Forsaken and (to a lesser extent) Parallels of Infinite Torture are great, brutal albums. |

I dont understand how alot of you guys think grind is more brutal than death metal. Its just too... gloomy. The guitars are too fuzzy, the production is often bad, and the vox just seem quiet to me (eventhough they're the loudest thing in the mix besides the drums). Death metal just seems to have more action in it, you know? Anyway, youll see me headbang to Fucked with a Knife before a Romperonperdomperomp song. (Ive never been able to spell/say that)

Thats alright, as previously established, I don't consider Black Metal, or that 'Powerviolence' shit to be even worth a pitiful existence, however some people like it. Therfore it is in everyone's best interest to not question others opions and argue, because I am certain we can all aggree on one - fact. It is all far more brutal than U2.
'Something_Wicked' at least one of those things you mensioned are songs, rather than 'records' - which is the purpose of this thread. I'm unsure if this is an oversight - or just ignorance as the titles of the albums though. |

lol, there are plenty of albums that are brutal... anything Disgorge, Deeds, or unique leader... Unmatched Brutality records, Decapitated, Oxidized Razor, etc., but none of it really stands out like the above albums. Each is particularly brutal for a different reason.

Not in any order but:
1. Disciples of Mockery - Prelude to Apocalypse
Imagine the most brutal Incantation riffs times 100.
2. Funebrarum - Beneathe The Columns of Abandoned Gods
Too heavy, too crushing.
3. Funeral Mist - Salvation
Ridiculously intense music with some insane production.
4. Noothgrush - Failing Early, Failing Often
This is what Eyehategod wish they sounded like.
5. Unearthly Trance - Season of Seance, Science of Silence
One of the most negative albums ever done.
None of these albums really kill you with some rehashed, overly technical stuff, but they're most brutal than most of the death metal bands today.
