Disillusion
I'm surprised that there hasn't been a thread on these guys yet. Awhile ago an ex-friend showed me "Back To Times of Splendor" and I can't put it down! This album seriously kicks the cunt of the last few Opeth releases so hard ringworms tumble out. Its moody, its beautiful, its dark, its heavy, its awesomenessnessisticness. And there is never a dull moment.
Check it.

Wow. Just got the same album as mentioned above. 'Kicking the cunt of Opeth' is an understatement, though it's not particularly fair to compare the two bands.

This is a very important piece of work.
Does anyone have any of the early stuff, the EPs? I massively want them.

Definatly. If anyone has them let us know!

Someone isn't suspended anymore...
I found my Three Neuron Kings album and Red. Can anyone tell me a good way of taking music off of a tape and putting it onto a CD? It'd be much more convenient to have Red on CD (but it was only released as a cassette I believe).

There are stores that will do that for you. I'm sure there are some more DIY methods of analog to digital transfer, but I don't know them. Maybe Dyldo does. Might be worth searching the Gear/Recording forum, too.

The only way I can think of would work only if you have a recording interface. If you do Kalmah, PM and I'll show you how to do it (and if you do the quality will match the tapes).
I finally listened to The Porter. The two songs have some of their most badass riffage, but the songs ingeneral aren't tantamount to anything on BTTOS. My Opeth remark didn't have much root and I take that back. They have some Opeth aspects, sure, but their music is accompanied by so many other aspects that its trite to simply isolate one and insult it subsequently creating a feeble and shallow example.

Just finished listening to it. Its great. The drummer does some cool work on here, too.
Both EPs are really different from BTTOS but they still perfectly retain their awesome sound. I read that the next album is going to be more along the lines of the TNK appraoch.

Everything Opeth should have been.
Does anyone have a copy of The Porter or Three Neuron Kings that they would sell??

I have a feeling that Gloria, like a lot of Ulver's stuff, will make more sense when they've done a few more albums. Whatever they were trying to do with it, well, it really didn't get there.
Curious strategy for following up the best album in the last 5 years though - change everything that made it good and confuse the fuck out of everyone.
