Third is that, even if it were relevant, it doesn't address my points in any way. When somebody makes a quick, irrelevant, factually inaccurate 'refutation' of a disagreement that ends with 'get off my back,' it's because he's taking it personally. It's certainly not because he's trying to make a valid argument against my own. Saying 'you can't criticize what I said because you said something else at some time' is meaningless as far as logical argument goes; it's the response of a 'grown up' petulant child who still hasn't learned how to deal with disagreement.

If you really can't see a difference between what I do and what you do on this site, there's nothing I can do for you. You whine irrationally and go immediately into some weird variation on ad hominem (kind of a false ad hominem tu quoque in this case) when somebody disagrees; I work with facts and well-considered, logical arguments. Just because we both swear and keep respond to these disputes doesn't mean what we're doing is the same or even similar. If you can't see that, unfortunately there's no way for me to show you.

i dont like where i live at all. but for now im stuck here. i wouldnt have to go too far to be mildly happy though. about six hours away is one of my favorite places ive ever known. its got tons of hills (some can be considered mountains) and nice rivers and streams running through it. when it seems right, i think ill move there. the town i live in has a grocery store 1/3 the size of walmart (no walmarts or HEBs), at least 15 catholic churches (just kind of rediculous), and the only real "store" is a dollar store. i dont even visit town, i guess you could say i hate my town. its really small so when i mention the churchs being rediculous, i mean you see a church around every other corner.

A little trick to try, and see if it works, is to give a choice. Would you like to go to a movie or go grab something to eat? Then it's less intimidating making the choice.You can specify what movie if you want to or a couple different places to eat.

Yeah, you have to give a choice, and then be willing to make it for them if they keep on wobbling. Nobody's going to be happy if they just hang out in your house and do nothing, and while it's partially their fault, it's also yours for offering nothing more than the most boring option possible.
