Question pickups not parallel to bridge

It might turn out to be a stupid question.
But looking at many guitar magazines i noticed that
1) The bridge is always set up in a non-straight line. It always has a step like formation (1,2,3,1,2,3)

I guessed that it has to do something with the string tension and the springs .... or something....

2) Then i saw some string-thru body models

and they have their strings thru the body in a diagonal way compared to the bridge.

3) Then i saw some acoustics and i noticed a similar trend in them.

here the white plastic strip (forgive me for i know not what to call it)is not parallel to the way the strings are placed.

But where as in the string thru models the bridge was parallel to the frets (and the "string holes" werent) here it is the opposite.

4) And lastly i also saw that the pickups for many models were not parallel to the bridges.

What is the reason for these things to be like this????

Intonation, with the non-uniform string holders. I'm not sure about the pickups.

the crooked pickup picks up different vibrations. so the lower strings sound will sound warmer because the pickup is closer to the neck. the higher strings will sound more trebly because the pickup is closer to the bridge
