Hey yous guys with the boost pedals...

do you use them for your main dist. tone or only for solo boosting?

Also, do the more, erm, "standard" ts9/SD1/OD808 style pedals suck bass? I'm thinking of grabbing a Maxon OD808 but i heard it sucks some bass, as do other pedals of that style...in which i might opt for the Digitech Bad Monkey.

And, if i get this right, boost pedals "smooth" out the tone a little?

I use the boost pedal always. to tighten up the sound. It doesn't "suck bass" And I use a korg overdrive pedal

the maxon od808 adds a mid hump and a little gain which will make the sound tighter, and in some instances less bass heavy. not in a bad way though.

boost pedals only get along with some amps. i hate my maxon with my powerball, because the powerball is already one of the tightest voiced amps with endless usable gain. the maxon is worthless there. but lets say with my framus cobra, it's alot more boomy and saggy in it's voicing, and the gain isnt endless, nor completely usuable. so a od808 in front of that thing just sings. though the cobra is a pretty noisey amp, and a boost pedal just adds to that.

i still rarely use the maxon. if i can get a certain sound out of an amp stock, i preffer to go that way.

It would be a good thing to lower the gain on the amp before you boost the signal

i use a boss ds 1 as a boost...
it gets rid of that gritty sound of my line 6..
makes it sound like a tube amp
