Triple XXX Owners, maybe you can help me out....

Well, the Ultra channel has waaay less gain than the crunch channel, whats up with this? Is this the way it is supposed to be? And it sounds like crap compared to the crunch channel. Overall this amp kicks ass though.

I don't think it has less gain. The sound on the ultra channel just sounds scooped compared to the Crunch channel. I have my gain around 6.5 and it's enough for me,

Maybe the preamp tube for that channel is crapping out.

Hey young guitarist, I've heard clips of your amp before and was wondering if you got a mod for it, retubed it, or is it stock? If you retubed, what did you put in it? Thanks.

Stock. The guy did a little editing on the guitar track but it sounds pretty much like that.

Would the lights in the tubes be an indicator?

I was about to say it sounded like a tube problem. An abnormity in a channel's tone -according to many FAQs I've read- is very likely a preamp tube problem.

Broken poweramp tubes can contribute to the tone alot also.

Maybe it's just me. People have said that it is more of a "lead" channel so maybe thats why it isnt as crunchy. I'll check the tubes later. Can't be too serious a problem if the channels all still work.

Try some different preamp tubes. The Ultra channel has more gain, but it's thinner sounding so it's cuts thru the mix better.
The glow of the tube tells you nothing about the way the tube is working at all. They all glow a little different, even tubes of the same brand. On some tubes it's harder to see the filament than others.

That's what I meant, it was thinner than the crunch channel. Thanks for clarifying.
