The Blue Voodoo is good, you can swing a Peavey 5150 for around $500-$600 on eBay so you may want to save for awhile and get one of those. I've played one just recently and it ripped.

5150 2x12 combos are cheaper than that.

Instead of just searching for a 5150 on ebay, having to battle other douches, trying going on the classified section of other forums and stuff and asking if anyone's got one for sale.

if your going to get a bv get the bv150 model as its the same as the 300 watter but its less wats (still same eq).
jack owen (cannibal corpse) uses the bv300hb, or did use it at least and their tone is sick

True that. I just bought a Boss DD-3 off some dude on HC, and I got it for 65$ + 5$ shipping. They go for at least 20$ more on ebay, and you have to be on top of other fucks so they don't outbid you.

what do you think is wrong with this amp?
this is what i was told
THIS IS A CRATE BV~120H I PURCHASED THIS HEAD AND AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE I DID PLUG IT IN,THE TUBES DID NOT LUMINATE.THE FRONT 2 LIGHTS(POWER & STAND BY)DID LIGHT.MY BEST ESTIMATION IS THAT ONe OF THE SMALLER TUBES IS DEAD AND IT IS PREVENTING THE AMP FROM FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY.THE AMP IS VERY CLEAN,LOOKS BRAND NEW AND HAS NO BURNT SMELL INSIDE.

Wtf? Who really cares about whether it looks perfectly squeaky clean, or if it smells like horseshit or not? It's all about the condition and sound of it. What's he talking about some burnt smell for?

I think you will regret an jcm 800 because of the lack of high gain

jcm 800's have a great overall tone... but to get into metal ranges you'll need to get a boost pedal.

No, I dont think you should get it.. I am 90% sure you will be disapointed even tho you like Zakk Wylde..
You will not feel that it has enough gain, even with an overdrive infront of it, atleast not if played at low volumes, and combos (open back ones) don't usually hold up for high volume playing

if you got an overdrive pedal you should be fine. if you really need alot of gain, get a higher gain boost pedal like a proco rat.

ah what do you guys think about the JCM900 50w combo? how's its distortion? Is it good for heavy/melodic metal? And im guessing 50w of tube power is a little above bedroom level but its ok cos i might get a volume box

i like jcm 900's alot... they can do "high gain"... but for the super extreme brutal stuff, you might wanna get a boost pedal... that is if you're going with the 4500 dual reverb model. if you're going with the 2500 sl-x model then you'll be fine on gain.
