Clearner Sound

Is there any special secret to getting a clearner sound? Take for example doing a solo on the B and e strings. The sound from a note on the B string will ring throughout the next few notes on the e string, and make for a really muddy sound. I know the answer's probably to just cut the sound off w/ the picking hand's palm, but it seems harder than it should be.

Is that it and I just need to work on it more, or is there some other way?
