Lemon oil on the neck?

I have some of that Dunlop 65 ultimate lemon oil. I remember in a thread about sanding down a neck someone mentioned using it. Is this a good idea? How would I wipe it afterwards, and would it still be as smooth? Does GHS Fastfret(which I recently bought) have a similar effect?

You're thinking of Tung Oil soeru. Fast Fret is more of a string lube/cleaner.

I can't help but feel that all of this kind of shit is more of a placebo effect than anything real. Sure it makes the neck feel nicer for a bit, but I doubt in the long run it's worth it. Best just toclean your strings and fretboard every now and then with a damp cloth etc...

I just use the lemon oil when i change my strings....thats when i clean the fret board. I wipe it on with a paper towel and then wipe all the excess off. Lemon oil works wonders for cleaning your fret board especially if you have sweaty hands like me.
