How do I make my knob stiff? ( :D )
Hey,
In my warlock I have the standard EMG volume and tone knobs. In particular the volume knob is the problem. I have the tendency to keep brushing it when I solo. For some reason my volume does not descend gradually, It hardly turns down before it gets to a point where it completely turns off. This is a problem. Rather than change technique, I would like to modify the knob. How do I make the knob stiffer???
I remember the stock BC Rich knobs did not twist as freely as the emg ones do....
Glue? blocking? tightening?
Any help appreciated.

You might try just making sure everything is tightened up and if it is, you might have to buy a new pot wich is the actual knob its self and it's pretty cheap so yeah try that...

If the knob is a screw in one where there is a screw in the side you screw in, you might want to try to lower the knob down lower toward the body so it kinda scrapes against the body, that should make it a bit stiffer.

Its your standard knob, base at the bottom, a stick with grooves protruding perpendicular to the base - the EMG one - come on - hasnt anyone thought of tightening it??? |

Back on topic,some knobs are touchy like that.I would just upgrade to better pots,they arent too difficult to install,if you are confident to do it yourself,even better.Its pretty cheap,too.

hmm well at the moment temporary resolution is just to take the knob off... Maybe corroding it? that would make it tough as fuck fuck? or installing a block ??? anything creative??
I dont really need new pots, the EMG ones work fine.

i had a warlock once and i had the exact same problem. just take the knob off and tighten the nut down as much as you can without breaking the thing. make shur to take the little back plate off so you can see the whole thing and hold the thing in place while you tighten it. other wise when you tighten it the thing will move too. snapping wires. |
