Pedal Reccomendations
I'm looking into some pedals, but I'd love some input from all of you guys before I go blow money on something based soley upon reviews. I'm looking into...
Distortion
Delay
Chorus
I'm not quite sure what a Flanger is, but is it generally used in metal?
Also sort of looking into Wah pedals, but that can wait.
My band plays mostly a mix of power/prog/thrash with influences from other genres aswell.

My buddy's been insisting I go w/ the Digitech pedals (of the above kinds) and use a Crybaby Wah. What do you make of those?

The original crybaby from Dunlop is good, but doesn't exactly have the widest sweep. A weeping demon wah can sound pretty killer if its used correctly. As for distortion, do you want more of a tube crunch or all out distortion?
The Ibanez Tube Screamer is the closest you can get to real tube overdrive in a pedal. In general, just get a Boss DS-1 and tweak it to sound the way you want it to. Best scenario is to fuck pedals and save for a good amp.

Define "good amp". I have around $400, no job, and most of money goes toward college.

He only has $400 though,dude.
As for the digitech pedals, the delay and chorus are both great, and can be had cheap.Dont consider any of the digitech distortion pedals, though. If you can find a boss delay,or chorus they are great also.
As for Distortion pedals,Depends what amp you have. You can either get a distortion pedal,to be used souley for your gain,or you can get a overdrive/dist pedal and use it as a boost. If you want a pedal for all your distortion, look at these:
Mesa bottle rocket
Guyatone metal monster
Akai shredomatic
or as your budget dictates, check out boss ds-1,ds-2,ect.
If you want boosts consider
Tubescreamers
Maxon
Ds-1's again
Boss overdrives
Big muff
pro-co rat
ect
Check out some of those, and I would spend more on distortion pedals than others, see them as a priority. But dude what amp are you using.

Yea, but you can swing those amps I listed above for <$500 used on eBay. You can get a crate blue voodoo combo for around 200, same for the blue voodoo head.
