Well ive been recording some music latley, and I can do deep gutterals and all that mumbo jumbo bullshit, but the singing like Today is the Day, screaming stuff confuses me. Know its obvious that he use's a distortion or its edited, but anyone know how I could get the same type of sound?

Don't put your mouth to close to the mic. Getting a scream is basically like doing gutturals, but opening your mouth as wide as you can.

Yeah my jaw starts hurting when I do that lol. But ill try it that way. I mean I can scream and growl, and do a weird mix of both, but im wondering how Today is the Day gets that weird scream type thing.

It's not a guttural scream. Hell, there isn't really and difference between regular growls and gutturals aside from from gutturals being lower. Frank Mullen is a prime example of this on Thrones Of Blood. The part where he goes really low is a guttural, and the stuff after that is just a growl. So really, its all about how you shape your mouth, which is why I said to open your mouth up to scream, or drop your tongue down from the roof of your mouth, which is where it should be for anything low.

I think the inhaled vocals are simple as hell once you've figured out how to force the air through the right place, now growling outhaled is hard, IMO. It takes practice not to sound like someone in a hardcore band, or mike DiSalvo. Well it did for me. Now I think I have a fairly good growl.

I still don't understand what an "Inhale" growl is. I growl about as low as Matti Way and don't "inhale" so why not just exhale?

Ehh, you get a sound alot different from an exhale, its good for experimenting with your voice makind strange noises ie Circle of Dead Children

I made some strange ass noise yesterday when not even growling, right now im realy sick, and i went to spit up a lugi... and it made this harsh ass noise lol. Anyways though, Im wondering if a pitch shifter would work or not. Ill try it when I get back to work, but for now I cant realy do anything.

Oh my fucking god... Are you serious man? Holy fuck dude, they have to do something... Its like theres a low end to it, and the a scream type thing over it. Thats amazing, he must be like Satan or something lol. Do you know a method to get your vocals sounding like that? It would be pointless to even ask in the growling/screaming styles.

Are you talking about Mexigorge or Disgorge (USA)? I don't know if mexigorge does, but since they're goregrind they probably do. Disgorge(USA) doesn't all their vocals are natural.

Yep, thats Matti Way. I sound more like AJ Magna, whose vocals I prefer overall, but Matti is fucking LOW.
