Cleaner Sound?

When moving between notes, do you find it cleaner to move your fingers off the string fast, or slow? I ask because on occasion, when playing and moving between notes, I get extra noise as I remove my fingers from the string(s) and onto other frets/strings.

Should I be removing them softer, or yanking them off?

It's not so much hitting extra strings as the sound made when I lift my fingers off of a string.

I think the problem was the nut around where the chord plugs into fell off, and part of it fell into the guitar. I used a pair of plyers to dig it out and re-attatch the nut, but something's wrong, cause my notes don't always register, and the sound randomly goes off and on. I think that's what the problem is.

Especially since I just retuned my other guitar and I'm not having the problem anymore.

Thanks though.

I think I understand your original post. Taking your fingers off frets after you've played that note, it can pick up the vibration from your finger moving off it suddenly and it sounds the open string a little. It's normal.. but shouldn't bother you too much unless it is making alot of annoying noise. That is when you know you should probably be looking to improve your playing technique to play with as much skill as you have, but as cleanly as possible. It's just one of those things that makes your sound more crisp and finished, not having alot of string noise.
