Learn chords, scales, memorize notes on your fretboard, there's things to be learned before you start soloing, like technique: picking and fingering such as legato, sweeps, alternate picking, etc... and theory, not actual theory theory but knowing chords, various scales, and notes as I've mentioned, technique alot might say doesn't have to be developed before you start to play leads but then again if you're super sharp on theory and notes what good is it to have melodies or runs in your head if you don't have the technicallity to play them, I would first work on technique, I'm not saying you have to be able to pick at 20 nps or be able to pull off 6 string sweeps before you start learning theory but just know the basics of each technique, as they will develop when the music comes.

Work on your rhythm and timing first. Withought those, you won't solo in time and will sound like shit. Get a metronome and learn a few of your favorite songs while keeping in time with the metronome.

While you're working on timing and scales, also work on some basic riffs to get your fingers used to working in different ways. Start soloing slowly over very simple chord progressions, incorporating the scales and riffs you're working on. Learn your scales all the way up the neck in all positions so you learn the entire fretboard.

head bang while u solo, if ur headbanging is off then there is seriously something wrong with you. So just try headbanging and soloing and it might help you to feel the rythm a little better.

Joe rogers hit the nail on the head. Headbanging while soloing really is the best way to stay in time. When I solo, i headbang in rhythm to the backing track or other instruments, so I can shred really fast and have it still stay in time.
However make sure not to start too fast. If you cant solo in time it might partly be because you have not yet gotten used to playing that fast. Start by soloing a bit more slowly and at lower tempos, and once you get used to soloing in whatever tempo that was, increase it by 20 or something and continue. What I did was I used Reason to make a kinda fast metal-style drum backing track, and set the tempo at 120 and played along to it, riffing and soloing. Once I got used to it enough to shred really fast and keep in time, I increased it to 140 and did it again. You probably don't really need a program like Reason to do this speed training technique, but it does make it a bit more interesting.
Another possible reason you might be struggling could be because when you practice playing along to stuff, your metronome, backing track, or song might just not be loud enough. The stuff in the background will just throw you off unless you can hear it clearly while youre playing. So either turn down your guitar or turn up the music/metronome. I hope this info helps.
