Harmonization with different channels???

I was listening to lamb of god and noticed that each guitarist (they have 2 guitarists) takes one different channel (left or right) through out the song
and for most of the parts they play the same thing except for the solos and some other parts

But i also noticed that IRON MAIDEN (old) doesnt do tht (they also have multiple guitarists). But then again they specialise in harmonization.

So is it possible to harmonize using two different channels or will it sound gay.

Any examples.

Dont know much about harmoization but wanted to get the facts straight.

Also does Lamb of God do harmonization.

Many bands harmonize in different channels without it being mixed together and it sounds good as well.

There's a bit of both, and yes Lamb of God harmonize quite abit. They like the hollow perfect 4th interval alot.

theres nothing wrong with panning 2 guitars left and right, even if they are playing harmonized parts.
what you dont want to do is have one playing a solo, and the other playing rythm. during that, both guitars need to be centered

probably you should try panning them different amounts, so that you still get the effect you want, without quite so much separation.

the good thing is you can mess around as much as you like when recording, and the only downside is paying somebody's rate of extortion to do it.

listen to 3 inches of blood - revenge is a vulture (intro & bit after chorus) to hear panned harmonies
