guitar wiring???

i was just experimenting with my guitar and i found that there is a wire going from below the pick guard to the back . So i opened the back and i found that it goes in to the place where the bridge springs are attatched (i posted a pic)
what is the wire for
grounding??

if youre guitar doesnt have that on passive pickups it makes a popping sound (when using an amp) when you touch metal parts of the guitar. thats because youre grounding/ungrounding the signal when you touch the metal. so that wire touches the metal for you, so when you touch it nothing happens. amps can make that happen too if they arent grounded.

If you ever use active EMG pickups then make sure you disconnect that wire. It is a ground wire for your strings and bridge. It's not needed and dangerous to keep connected if you get EMG.

yeah but 3 looks better hehehe...but who cares really...if it works then why fuck with it? I would only suggest 3 strings if you have a floyd rose and you nose dive and do a bunch of crazy shit on it...
