Most capasitors have a shelf life and will go bad even if not used over time. MOST amp companies use cheap caps so it can never hurt to replace them with military spec capasitors because the tested parameter ranges are tighter and far more depandable over a longer period of time. They cost a tiny bit more but are worth using. They are a pain to replace and you need to be advanced in electronics to do it correctly.

Tubes can go bad over time to if they are not completely vacuum sealed, but most will last decades as long as they are not over heated. Metal music and loud volumes normally means you burn the edge off tubes after a few years, but no big deal. They can be replaced very easy.

If the caps have never been changed you should have it done. The price depends on how many caps there are. A cap job runs anywhere from $100-150. Good luck finding any military specs caps to fit the amp. They don't make them in that type arrangement. I like the F&T caps best. The JJ's are crap in my opinion. I only use the JJ's in my shop as a last resort.
