Mid Price Pickups
I've just bought a cheapish Gibson Copy, i couldn't afford the real thing so i got this with with the idea of putting some good pickups in it. Are there any pretty good mid price pickups as i can't really afford EMG. I do use a lot of gain and high volume and the Select/EMG pickups i've got can't handle it and niether can the bands ears. Any advice would be appreciated..cheers

If EMG's are expensive, then passives are "mid price" pickups. I just bought a used Dimarzio Tone Zone for my floyd-equipped Ironbird for 40$ shipped, and I saw a PAF Pro go for 30$ or something.
Some great bridge pickups:
Dimarzio: Tone Zone, Super Distortion, X2N, Evolution, Evo 2...
Seymour Duncan: Invader, JB(you'll probably need a booster pedal of some sort), Custom...
As for neck PU's I'd get a PAF Pro or something even softer if you use a lotta cleans.

for neck... people usually recommend the seymour duncan Jazz pickup, but i'd personally go for a Cool rails, or a Dimarzio super 2.
Depends what you want from your sound. A good thing to know would be what kind of sound you want to make, just saying 'rock' doesnt really cut it... to me, rock describes any kind of music with mildy distorted guitar and some form of singing...

Dimarzio X2N in the bridge. Seymour duncan invader in the neck. Their pretty affordable. Especially used. I have that combo and i' m pretty pleased. The invader also sounds killer in the bridge. It gets pretty bassy though. But nothing an EQ can' t handle

ive just seen a PAFpro and a fred(i think thats right) both from dimarzio being sold together so i might go for them cheers for all the comments..yeah "rock" didn't really describe much in the style. I play a lot of d-tuned stuff like "corrosion of conformity" sleazy hardrock stuff. i like a lot of bottom end grunt.(said the actresss to the bishop..lol)

your from the UK right?
if so, i've found out your problem, pickups are SOOOO overpriced in the UK.
so what do you do? get them imported from the US! my emg 89 cost about £55 brand new from the US! so imagin mow much used pickups would cost if you get them from america. there are plenty of used EMGs on ebay.
think about it, and dont rush into anything
i took a good few months searching for the right prices and it paid off!

Yup pickups there cost twice as much over there. i ordered my EMGs from the US and the cost was half the UK's price or maybe less
