Really Pissing Me Off!
Ok so I am trying to tune my Edge Pro Tremolo. This is my first time using an alternate tuning. Im trying to tune it to D[D,G,C,F,A,D]. Now Im using this Boss digital tuner and I tune the E string down to D, Tune the A string down to G, lock the nut, go and tune the other strings. Then I check back about 2 minutes later and somehow its magically tuned back up to C. WHAT IS GOING ON? So far this Tremolo has been more trouble than its worth. If I have to do this everytime I want to use an alternate tuning I will be very annoyed.

you're in standard tuning now and want to go to D, do some basic thinkin'. what happens to a spring if you release some tension on it? You need to increase the spring tension by setting up the floyd springs. (open the back of the guitar, look for the screws that hold the springs, etc.)
read the manual, search the forums.

Well ok, my concern is no longer going into D, forget about it. Now my concern is fixing my guitar. Cause I cant fret a note on the high E string. I still have to open the guitar, I never heard anything like this. And I dont know anything about string tension.

Ofcourse you can't fret a note on the high e string, that string is probably laying down on top of the frets right now.
don't buy a floyd equipped guitar if you're a retard
Now listen to what I said, do a search. This thread has been done a million times.

id say at this point... call up a local tech/luthier and have him set it up for you... he might even let you watch and give you a couple tips.
if you're like me, you'll just say trems are for pussies that like to play out of tune and can't bend with their fingers. and then block the floyd with some legos or something.

I set it up completely myself recently in D, with 46-10 strings, and 3 springs in the back. It's not hard at all really, I had absolutely no previous experience with tremolos.
A very simple way to do it is:
1) Block the bridge with a 9 volt battery, jenga block, or whatever makes it stay parallel to the body.
2)Replace all of the strings.
3)Tune it up.
4)Slowly unblock it to observe how much the bridge shifts.
If it moves upwards(string tension is to much), then you have to tighten the screws that hold the spring claw in the back cavity, to increase spring tension. Do it bit by bit, then retune approximately to see if it still shifts up. Keep going back and forth between the tuning pegs and springs until you get the bridge approximately parallel to the body of the guitar AND it is in the tuning you want.
Don't forget to stretch the strings a bit at step 3 to get the job done quicker. It will take a while but once you're done, whenever you get a new set of strings of the same guage and use the same tuning again, you wont have to do all that crap.
By the way, this is how I have my springs set up:

Does anyone know what are the advantages of different spring alignmnents?

did you check your intonation? the higher action is connected to the spring setup, yeah.
take it to a guitar shop and let them see how they do it. seriously, it's not that difficult and if you SEARCH the internet there's enough teachin' material to be found.

Off topic, please learn how to write correctly, it gets annoying to the people on here who can actually write complete sentences and not use excessive abbreviations.

Donīt forget that you have to use the same string strength fpr the same tuning the whole time - otherwise you will have to change the whole fucking thing everytime again.

What he means is Gauge, such as 9,10,11,12 (those are high E string gauges) So if you have 10's right now, make sure you use 10's next time so you dont have to redo everything. and also check your intonation (make sure if youre on the High E that the 12th fret is also an E and if youre on the b string make sure that the 12th fret is also a B, and so on. But just think of it as almost tug of war, your strings are pulling against the springs and your springs are pulling at your strings, you want to find the equilibrium of the two, so your bridge is parallel to the guitar body. So if your bridge is up, tighten the springs, if its down, loosen the springs.

Its really annoying to get to the nearest place for me. So I've been trying to get my guitar in tune for like a week now. I cant get the perfect spring position. I can get the trem parallel no problem. But the tuning never stays, I tune and either like shoots up or drops down in a matter of seconds. Plus all the strings are different, one is sharp, one is flat, on is perfect. Getting frustrating. Im gonna try to get to Guitar Center soon, but idk when that will be.

you just have to decide what is more annoying... $30 and a trip to the local tech, or a decade of fucking with an out of tune guitar that isnt set up right.

keep tuning your guitar until all strings are in tune and then depending on how off the bridge is from the parallel position, tighten or loosen the springs in the back. then tune up again and see if you are getting close.
