I got one about 2-3 months ago. I must say I was pleasantly surprised for the price. It doesn't have a really high distortion Its just got sort of a Marshall overdriven chunky crunch. I like it because its not really sterile like most SS amps. It gets a good death(band not genre) tone but mostly I just use it as a poweramp for my GT-8 or a backup amp.

Yeah,they are a perfect back-up.Take it anywhere you take your main rig.

I couldnt see it as a main amp, ever. I mean it seems like a good option for a cheap, decent sounding power amp, but thats about it.

The Crate Powerblock is like a distortable single channel tube amp. Get a boost pedal for 50$ and you've got a screaming metal head for 250$ ( okay, its not a Framus Cobra or anything, but you can hardly beat its price ).

No, its not that you HAVE an MG, its the fact that you believed an advertisement stating that Zakk uses one backstage, that disappoints me. Marshall is paying Zakk money ( or at the very least, giving him magazine exposure, which is worth probably more than money ) to say that he uses one backstage. He can have WHATEVER he wants, and he's not going to have a shitty 30 watt mini-stack joke whenever he can have a vintage 12" all tube combo, which is probably what he dicks around on in the tour bus with.

NO. Whenever you see just cabs and nothing else on stage, that means that he's probably using rack gear. And that is verified in the last picture. Also, the pictures in which he's used Marshall cabs, they're obviously the 1960 cabs that are actually very, very good.

I hate the sound of a Marshall MG. I want to do what I can to keep people from buying it. I am doing the world a favour by keeping people from having to listen to it. If it were 'allegedly' another amplifier I would'nt care. It actually pisses me off whenever someone says they use an MG or a Krank, and then someone BELIEVES it, and spends their hard earned money on something on something terrible. THEN they learn more about buying equipment, discover the used market, and then wish to whatever god they pray to that they had spent their money differently.



That's an invalid argument. Being passionate about your own aural fingerprint is'nt necessarily a characteristic of someone who can't play guitar. NOT PRACTICING is a characteristic. I didnt say and mean that you dont practice just because you are interesyted in this gear stuff. What I wanted to say, that I rather practice guitar instead of "wasting" my time for this gear things. (in my opinion its a waste of time )
