How the hell this is fingered...

This is just an example of the billions of times I've seen this arkward looking thing. It looks like if you were to play a powerchord but had your ring finger torn off. How the hell does one go about playing this? I've seen it in tabs from more than 10 different bands, I usually just play a powerchord instead of that because it seems impractical to fingerpick that.

Play it using your first and third fingers, and use the pad on your first finger to mute the middle string

just strum it like a power chord. Except mute the string in the middle so it dosn't sound. I usually use my index and ring finger.

As an encouragement I might mention that I had the same problem. Pratice the muting, you'll get there.

I play that stuff with my index and third finger, and mute the second string with the rest of my index finger.

Weird, I never imagined it was really going to be muted since I never saw an "X" in the tabs, indicating muting was necessary. So I, dumbfounded, tried to mute the string and since it sounded like ass I figured that wasn't the right way to do it but I see now it is, does it always come out cleanly for you guys? Or does the muted string still ring out noticeably?

Is that sarcophagus ?
Anywho I play it like a regular power chord ( Index fiinger and pinky for me ) and just move the pinky one string down and mute the other with the index finger

Yeah, or if it isn't fastplaying and you want a really concise and outstanding note, pick the low string and use your 'up yours' finger to simultaneously pluck the octave. You'll be surprised at the difference in tone. You even have control of plucking one of the notes harder than the other for emphasis etc. I'll try making a video to show this if you can't see how I mean

I've been doing that up until now, but I said fuck it and did a regular powerchord. :P Guess I'll work on muting now, don't worry about the video, thanks anyway.
