i think this is just more of an personal preference thing, cuz i think both amps are verry good from what ive heard on metaltabs.

John H has had problems with his Shockwave, but I dunno, I think his might just be faulty. Personally I'd probably take the BV.

And it'd be a shame if my ( I shudder to say 'my' ) Shockwave was faulty since it was purchased at a music store.

does it not matter that its 50 watts though? as i dont know if this will be as brutal sounding as the higher watt versions.
or what about an ampeg vh140? id realy like one of these coz i know fetus and suffocation use em' but i cant find them, any ideas where to find one?

I recommend a 140 over both amps if you like Suffocation's and Fetus's tone. But the thing about the 50 watter is you'll crank it to 7 or 8, it'll be loud enough, and it'll sound good no matter what. The Shockwave has been used by, ahem, no one live because of the utter lack of headroom. Well, one band here uses a Tidalwave ( basically a Shockwave with an individual EQ for each channel ) and their respective guitarist sounds like shit. Luckily he's drowned out ( and very, very easily ) by a Randall Cyclone. I'd also recommend the Cyclone for that super-tight ultra-saturated sound.
I'd look for the Ampeg or Randall over E-bay.
And never overlook a rack setup, you can specify what wattage you'd like that way.

I'd suggest the BV as the 50w head is quite cheap, thing is I hope you can play at loud volumes at home, so you can get the best out of the amp's tube sound.
