Need-a Hotplate!!!
ok...I have a mesa triple rec and a crate 4x12 cab loaded with V30's. I have it set to stereo on 8 OHMs on both sides....and I live in the barracks...very loud shit for that.
I want to get my saturated tube tone of course...and I want a THD Hotplate because the Powerbrakes are ass...
What OHM-age Hotplate should I get? I don't plan on staying at 8 OHM's forever, and I am curious if I got say a 16 OHM or 4 OHM (just as an example) Hotplate, would it be any real detriment to my tone or my gear?

I dont know if it will efect your tone or not but you should match the ohms of your amp and cab is all I know. I have a triple rec as well and just won a 8 ohm hotplate off ebay. I should have it pretty sone.Cant wait to see how good it works. Some people like them and some people say that they suck.Hey does your triple rec sound really lose and flubby at low volumes cause mine sure does, thats why I'm gettin the hotplate

Mine sounds pretty tight to me I guess. Its a 2 channel one and I had it all retubed and I run my guitar through to a 10-band eq to it as well to tighten it up.
Keep me posted on how the hotplate works out for you.

I would post some sound files (I will eventually) but it is kinda loud for the barracks....hence the need for a hotplate. It does sound pretty nice to me though.

I'm really thinking about sending it to voodoo just to vamp out the sound even more...the 10 band EQ already helps a good bit ( as I suspected it would ) but I prefer to get my ideal sound on a minimal setup, than add on other shit from there.....which isn't much for me. I think simpler is definitely best for me.

I got my hotplate...its the 4 OHM version. Thing is pretty fucking cool. It really does help make my rec quieter....but its still to god damn loud for the barracks!!!!
