I apologize if this I should have posted this in chit-chat, I figured that those who have recording experience could better answer my question.

Most of us have heard movie sound clips in songs or in live shows. Is there any legal repurcussions? Do I need permission from anyone to use a movie sound clip on a cd?

My band was considering using a hellraiser sound clip ( "jesus wept" for you horror fans ) and we were all really curious about this.

I would think so if you were selling it for a profit.

yea id think if you were selling it in stores or something you might need to get permission. ive heard hellraiser lines in a few different songs. i know mortician has atleast one line from there

if you sell their line for money, they either need to give you permission or they want a CUT!!!
