Flawed to others, but I know my motives. Its not some "blood oath," its one of those "I feel the need to start clean and stop taking these risks" type of things. I swore it all off, and then got into being sXe BY MYSELF, I might add. Like I said, I didn't do it as a motive to fit in.

As for Holland's Crate making odd sounds? SS amps can heat up to a point they will make fucked up sounds. The reason why is the silicone componants ( semi conductors ) can only operate correctly until they are heated to a certain temperature and then they behave drastically different then tube technology. Once heated to a point they become just like a wire conductor with no resistance... for a short period of time. By that time 3 things will happen. The componant will cool and perform correctly but over time the malfunction temperature will lower as its molecular structures weaken with age and heat. If the circuit is designed with a fail save a backup circuit will take the load or blow a fuse. Last, if the part has aged so long with years of cyclic heat stress it will "open" the componant ( it will be like it was never there ) and the magic smoke will escape from the solid state componant forever.

Keep in mind that SS amps also need capacitor checks and refits from time to time just like tube amps. A bad cap can cause the same problem as a bad transistor, diode, or IC SS componant. It only takes one part going bad to ruin the tone in a good amp.
