Funeral Doom
I'm looking for more funeral doom bands along the lines of Thergothon, Stabat Matar, and Nortt...any suggestions?

If I could use this opportunity to ask someone to clarify what Funeral Doom is precisely and how it differs from regular Doom without being called a nOOb and/or retard?
My guess would the the vocals but I'm sure there's more to it.

Funeral Doom is the slowest form of doom and is usually highly depressing.
I second these:
Until Death Overtakes Me
Asunder
Grief

Thank you sir. At least now I might be able to hear live what the hell unskilled metal bands are playing when tuned below D.

Wait, I'm confused. Did you just bash doom or the shitty nu-metal bands that tune below D?

i wouldnt write it all off on lack of skill, there is a minimalist aspect to the writing and to some of the bands. above all its slow and repititious to create an atmosphere of emotion, kind of like a metatative series of drones. its definately not for everybody even within the metal genre as a whole. to play this stuff it feels alot louder and more powerful than most grind bands ive been in, you can really center all your strength behind each beat and riff, i really need to get a photo of my bands amp setup, one of the big things about this style of music is the guitar gear, sunn o, orange, green amps, heads, old ass marshall fullstacks, ampeg coffins older than i am, many of them, and very, very loud

Unfortunately, funeral doom happens to be one of my favourite styles.
In my experience, the best funeral doom bands are:
Shape Of Despair
Monolithe
Skepticism
I guess you could almost consider some theatre of tragedy songs as funeral-doom paced, though the atmosphere is not really perfect for this genre.
It's all about atmosphere. The slow pace of these songs easily take you to a meditative stance, letting go of all your emotion... sometimes very depressive indeed. But atmosphere is what I'm looking for in music.

I forgot to name a good funeral doom band: Whispering Forest (though their pace is quite a bit slower than monolithe's)

"Hex" is fairly different. Their old stuff was sensational.

From what I heard on Hex, it sounds REALLY different...kinda like, almost classic rockish, but not cheery, at times. Weird. Start with their early stuff, or second album if you want to go straight for the drone. I started with their Demo and Extra Capsacular Extraction Album however.

Yeah "Earth 2" probably defines drone better than Sunn does.

Neither. I was bashing grind and/or death bands that tune to C or below and aren't VERY good at their instrument or VERY tight as a band and play fast as hell, reducing their live sound to a total chug fuzz + drum blasting. Thus this sounds like an interesting development. Or at least a nice parallel.
