Bought Land of The Dead the other day for 5 bucks. I enjoyed it. Lots of good gore scenes. One of the best zombie films yet.

Before The Devil Knows You're Dead: Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ethan Hawke, Drugs, and a time distorted screenplay = Great movie.
Iron Man: Most over-hyped film I've seen in the past year. It had some cool moments in the beginning, only to become a typical over-the-top, retarded superhero movie. Okay if you're drunk.
The Wrestler (Editors Choice!): Mickey Rourke & Melissa Tomei's boobs. Depressing, heart-wrenching (wink wink), and overall a great cinematic display from Darren Aronofsky. There aren't any creepy fast cuts or excessive drug-use scenes (but there ARE drugs!). This one was a very good film. If you're in a bad mood... don't watch it. Otherwise recommended.

Very good film. I don't watch WWF/WWE, but I really liked The Wrestler. Rourke needs to be in more movies
Speaking of Mickey Rourke, I just got my hands on the 2-disc special edition of Angel Heart. Interesting film! Anyone seen it?

Hell Yeah. Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz ftw.
Poultrygeist is another great film that was only recently released.

Finally caught Eros + Massacre, which is like the Holy Grail of 60's Japanese cinema. Not because it's the best it produced (I personally prefer Death by Hanging, if only slightly), but because it's so goddamn hard to find with English subtitles. The closest I'd gotten was an internet download with subs so shitty it wasn't worth watching (it's a hard enough film to follow even subtitled properly). So when I saw it was playing in NYC I had to pop on down. Totally worth it. The only problem is that it's gonna be a bitch to find it so I can see it a second time.

I heard that Gran Torino was pretty good. I'd like to see it.
I also forgot to mention that I saw Coraline. I thought it was a visually stunning film. Very fun to watch, and I'm sure it would be incredible if you got high beforehand
I bought the score for Coraline right after I saw it. The music is by Bruno Coulais, and it's fucking awesome. I do wish that the movie was darker... because it still definitely has its "PG" moments, but it also had many demented/bizarre moments that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I tried watching The Fountain last night. That was a complete failure.
So next in queue was Lost in Translation. It was ok. The movie had no real plot but seeing Tokyo was fun.

Playing 20 minutes of Wii boxing would probably satisfy that urge

I WONDER WHY?!
I have absolutely no desire to see Watchmen.
I've been on a Woody Allen binge lately. Been watching 1-2 of his movies for the past few weeks. I'm hoping to finish his entire catalog after awhile. I never had much of an opinion about him for the longest time but then my mom sat me down to watch Annie Hall and I was hooked.

I watched Eraser the other day. Man Arnold really has a way with one-liners. "They caught a train." Priceless.

Haha, yeah, the guy has the best one-liners. I bet he uses those in politics!
Recent movies that I've enjoyed:
- Gran Torino
- Miracle at Santa Anna
- The curious case of Benjamin Button
- Death Race (If you like action!)
- Zack and Miri make a porno (teen humor stuff)
- The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas
- Taken
- Thick as Thieves
- Valkyrie (only if you watch it in German haha)
- Pride & Glory
Movies I didn't like much:
- Miami Vice
- Meet the Spartans
- Swing Vote
- Slumdog Millionaire (loads of people like it, I thought it was wank..)
- Transporter 3 (the original was cool but this one had a cheesy storyline)
- Push
- Dead like me - Life after Death

GEE LET MEH THINK
It was okay... and for a "superhero" movie it was much better than Iron Man (which pretty much sucked balls imho). If anybody here liked Dark Knight, then you'll most likely enjoy Watchmen. It definitely had its cool moments, and a lot of hot superhero boobies.
But it also had lots of dicks and male ass.

I was extremely pessimistic about the whole affair until I realised Clive Barker was involved, and involved in a significant way. I'd like to have seen him direct though, which would be a nice way of wrapping up his directing career (the original Hellraiser was his first, and apparently he isn't too fond of that side of film making anymore).
By the looks of it we'll be waiting for a year or two anyway, at the earliest!

In Bruges
Please discuss the chaotic british nature of this film if you've seen it. I thought it was wonderfully awkward and disturbing, but also a great dark comedy.
This movie has drugs, guns, girls, irish accents, and midgets. In other words, it should be Paddy's favorite movie.

Sounds similar to Trainspotting.

Haha, I wouldn't be surprised if he had some part in the writing or directing

Watched Yes Man last night. It was ok, I like how all the new comedy movies with Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler have didactic meanings.

In Bruges is very little like Trainspotting, just as Ireland is not really all that much like Scotland. Both are great films, though. They're similar in that.
And if Paddy is Martin McDonagh then he is the fucking man.
And those movies always were didactic. You just didn't notice until now.

Why isn't this information plastered across every poster and trailer for this movie? I have put off watching this flick for quite a while, mainly because Colin Farrell is a cunt who thinks he's handsomer than me. I may actually expend some bandwidth and download this movie.

Listen chaps, Martin McCuntagh can fuck right off. If I was to direct a film it wouldn't star that ugly cunt Colin Farrell or that talentless hack Brendan Gleeson who is - and let's be honest here - fat. Not to mention the fact that he's ginger and no doubt has ginger trouser-cabbage to match.
No no, good sirs, my movies would be classy, tasteful and well-directed masterpieces of cinematic orgasms. BEHOLD!

Oh, I would not call Colin Farrell ugly...
He's sitting behind me, and nearly exploded when I read that to him.

I finally saw There Will Be Blood (yea that took a while). I fucking brought that shit to my dorms because I liked it so much. There were also a few minor plot points that I may have missed.
I'll definitely be seeing that one again soon. It's part of my coping mechanism for the remainder of my college semester.
Have I already brought up the movie Brick? I'm too lazy to search for it (I probably have), but I've seen that movie well over 10 times. I don't exactly know why it catches my interest so much, but the characters/plot/cinematography/music are all just great.

John Carpenter's The Thing is one of the greatest horror films ever made, in my opinion.

It was certainly light years ahead of the other bollocks that was cummed out of Hollywood during the 80's. I think The Thing and Hellraiser were pretty much the only noteworthy horror flicks of that entire decade. Fuck Freddy Kruger and the horse he rode in on, and FUCK Jason and Michael Myers. Fucking paedophiles the lot of 'em.

I had a lot of laughs about the new Halloween film!
The story behind Michael Myers How cool he slit the throat of his father.
But after a while it was getting really boring so the pack of chips infront of me got my whole attention.

HAHAHA!
I think I watched Halloween 1 and 2, then I suddenly realised that life's too short, which is something I conveniently forget every time I logon to MetalTabs, evidenced by my unnecessarily long posts.
If I want to see big titted morons getting carved up I'll just watch porn and beheading videos simultaneously. Incidentally, has anyone ever done that, even just as an experiment? It's a fuckin' strange time, lemme tell ya.

Follow Paddy's advice! Bleak as fuck claustrophobia, tension, frights and gore all rolled in to one, it's a must have for any horror fan. The "blood testing" scene is just about as gripping as cinema can get.

It's a pretty cool movie but I've seen it, so ehh, not really excited.
Have seen Crank 2 : High Voltage, it's fun to watch. The first Crank was like this as well, brutal action. Much less refined then the Transporter movies but very raw and explicit. A fuckload of poeple beeing killed, fucked and kicked in the nads. And ofcourse a storyline that isn't worth much but it doesn't matter at all.
Also checked out Marley & Me. Not a bad movie but just a romantic one, definetly not something to watch with some guys but one to watch with your girl.

I've been dying to get out and see Crank 2. The first one is one of my favorite films. It's so unique and filled with constant action and craziness

Crank 2 is nowhere near as exciting or good as the first one, and I really found the first one entertaining. If you're a fan, though, you'll probably find it pretty fun. IMO they spent too much time focusing on plot details in the second one... which, of course, is NOT what made the first Crank good

Haha I know how you feel. I have to sit through alot of them too; but for the most part they're actually not too bad. Adam Sandler's romance-comedy's are usually pretty good.
Luckily for me, my girlfriend also has a penchant for some pretty grim splatter flicks

Watched Milk and The Wrestler a few days ago. I'm gay to say that Milk is superior.

I know they can be a little gross at times, but once you start chompin' on them you develop a taste for it.
Milk, The Wrestler, Requiem for a Dream and Pi were all good films. I wanked to all four of them. I like gay, muscley, drug-addled stock market enthusiasts, so you can imagine my wankter scale reading when I had all of them playing at the same time. I nearly shat a kidney.
Milk was good, but it felt like it was teetering on the precipice of preachy, agenda-driven artlessness. But that aside, it was well-directed, well-acted and well-worth a wank.
The Wrestler was good too, but it was also marred somewhat by a sense of "this is trying too hard to be gritty, serious drama". I think Mickey Rourke needs to be in more movies, that's for sure.
Requiem is my least favourite of the four mentioned, but it was still fairly enjoyable. Plenty of wank opportunities in there.
Pi reminded me of a momentary dream I had once when I was trying to pass a turd the width of a forearm and burst a blood vessel in my brain. Nevermind drilling a hole in your head to let out your overloading genius, how about drilling holes in your pooh to help it break down easier so you can fit it through your ring-sausage? I don't see any black & white movies being made about my struggles.

Goddamnit, I meant to write Pi. Requiem threw me off by mispelling it, so have your way with him Paddy.

He's not my type. For a start, he won't lick my perineum while I wank-off onto his cheeks. Sorry Joe, you're the only man who understands my needs and is willing to serve them. So, are we still on for our Salt 'n Pepper session tonight? You know, I fill your ass with the saltiest of spunk deposits then jam a chili pepper up your Jap's eye? I'll supply the anti-depressants this time

For sure, man, just give me a call when you're free. I'm going to a concert later tonight, but if you get in touch with me before that we're all good. I'm probably going to have to cut this shorter than last time, because my ass is still really sore, sorry.

Didn't they find a massive intergalactic vagina in the Hadron Super Collider? At which point the scientists all had a wee wank and forgot why they had started the project in the first place.

Poor piggies. Maybe the dude will be in the sequel and get put through a wood chipper and slopped to pigs. I saw that on a real crime show.

That's what happened in my province years back. Some farmer named Robert Pickton was killing prostitutes for years and feeding them to his pigs. He killed 49 women before they finally caught him.

Usually when I come across something I'm looking at naked girls' fannies.
The movie actually showed up on a UseNet website I frequent, listed in the movies section haha. It was listed as " The Pig Fucker Movie (Vase de noces) (1974)" so naturally I had to have a wee click.

Why do these dickheads always kill hookers? It's not fair on the rest of us who depend on an early morning half-and-half before they can face the rest of their miserable days. Inconsiderate wankers.

You should make your own seal haha.

Is that really your name? I don't know many peoples names on here, only two that I can think of. I'm Nicholas Hughes... but I probably shouldn't have told you that. I have a feeling that I'm going to start getting phone calls in the middle of the night haha.
My father was going to name me Emrys when I was born because he wanted a traditional Welsh name, but my mum put her foot down because she hated that name, and argued that our surname was already Welsh. She did have a good point, and I'm just fucking glad my name isn't Emrys haha

Yeah, my name really is Paddy "Paddy McMullan" McMullan. I'm not terribly worried about posting my full name online because I've personally met 5 or 6 people with the same name, and they were all in the same high school haha; a teacher, a sub teacher and a handful of students (not to mention the fact that 3 of my relatives have the same name, too). Plus I know of at least 3 somewhat famous N. Irish guys with that name, one is a pool player I think. Either all of that is true or I'm a schizophrenic.
Paddy is obviously the most common first name here, and Murphy is the most common last name, but McMullan is pretty high on the list too. And yes, Hughes is Welsh enough haha. If you had been called Emrys Hughes your unyielding Welshness may very well have dissolved our entire reality.
Back on the topic of movies, I recently watched Raging Bull, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Goodfellas and Casino on Blu-ray. Man, dems is some good movies.
The scene in the cornfield at the end of Casino is one of the most powerfully brutal scenes I've ever seen (at least in a movie). There's just something about the way it was filmed and the way it "went down" that struck a nerve with me. A close second would be a similar scene in an independent film made in Belfast in the early 90s called "You, Me & Marley". It's about a group of young joyriders who have both the IRA and the British army after them, but the IRA gets to them first and one of the guys has pretty much every bone in his body shattered with makeshift baseball bats by a gang of men. AWESOME!
An interesting note about the scene in casino: recent criminal trials against the mafia have uncovered what actually happened to the brothers who were beaten to death. They were called to a meeting in a farmhouse, and Tony Spilotro (Nicky Santoro in the movie) thought his brother was gonna get "made". When he walked into the basement of the farmhouse he immediately saw what awaited them, and said "can I say a prayer first?". They were then beaten almost to death. I'm still not 100% sure if they intended on burying the brothers alive, or if they were just a little bit clumsy with the whole thing, but the evidence appears to indicate that they were indeed still breathing when they were finally buried in the cornfield, so either way they had a rather unpleasant death. However, if you read about Tony Spilotro's history any sympathy you may have for him quickly dissipates.

Haha, if I was named Emrys I'd be fucking every sheep within a 300 mile radius of my house and eating leek soup every day. Although I will admit that from time to time I do get biological urges to indulge in the former
Yeah, names don't get any more Irish than 'Paddy'. Were you officially named Paddy, Patrick, or Padraig? I can't stand my full name (Nicholas Paul William Hughes). Every time I get ID'd for liquor or tobacco I hear the same goddamn thing "Oh wow, your name barely fits on the card!" as though I'd never have noticed without them telling me
But at the same time I'm also thankful that I didn't get an overused name like Bill or Dave, or Muhammad haha (which is the most common name in the world, believe it or not)
Right, movies... Well I did see a movie on TV a few weeks ago called A Simple Plan with Bill Paxton and Billy Bob Thornton. Surprisingly, Billy Bob was actually pretty good in this film, despite the fact that he's an irritating twat. The movie was fucking awesome though, a little bit of a soporific at first, but it gets really interesting once the story unfolds.
Oh, Paddy, I've been meaning to ask you two things. First, what the fuck does Mick mean? haha. I know that it refers to the Irish, but where does the word come from? Second, I know that the word Pikey is used to refer to Gypsies, but what exactly does it mean?

Haha add to that the joyous experience of sorting out the morning mail and taking phone calls when your dad has the same name, save for one of the middle ones. I chose a different middle name for my Confirmation name, because my grandmother was the last of her line of family. My namesake was an ex-IRA man (old IRA, that is) who spent the remainder of his life in a mental institution, so how could I not take that name? It was really for my grandmother, because the guy was part of her bloodline, so it gave her a reassurance that her name would live on in some way. Just a shame that I have no intention of having children.

I enjoyed Billy Bob's performance (and his writing/directing) in "Sling Blade". I also enjoyed his performance in "The Man Who Wasn't There". The only other film I've seen him in is "Bad Santa", which wasn't great. Although I did literally cry with laughter when he read the kid's name from his report card, and said "Murman? Your name is Thurman Murman??" hahahahaha.

Mick is a somewhat derogatory term (depends on who's saying it and why) for the Irish because Michael is one of the most common names here, and of course Mick is short for Michael. It's the same with Paddy. Funny story, actually - a handful of British soldiers picked up my dad in their Paddy wagon (aptly named) and were giving him a bit of a beating, and asked "what's your name, Paddy??" (using "Paddy" in the abusive sense). He said "Paddy" so they whacked him with a rifle butt and asked again. He said "No, no, my name really is Paddy!". This went on for quite a while until they found his ID in his pocket. Ahhhh happy days!
"Pikey" refers to a specific breed of Irish person. Think Brad Pitt in "Snatch". Travellers, gypsies, etc. The word itself has very vague origins, and I have no idea what it means haha. I don't think anyone does, to be honest.
Brad Pitt's Irish accent in "Snatch" was like a caricature, but on the other hand the Irish accent is like a caricature of English, so who am I to judge?

Haha yeah I figured it had something to do with a name, and I figured that it was derogatory. I certainly wouldn't use it freely in a crowded pub haha
Did they have a reason to pick him up or were they just doing this for the hell of it? That's pretty shitty either way. Do things like that still happen now?

Haha, some Irish accents can sound similar to English accents, but not always. I can think of so many accent similarities that I've observed over the years of meeting tourists and family from the UK. I always found that some Manchester and North Yorkshire accents sound similar to certain Scottish accents. Some Geordies can sound very Welsh, though I can't decide if they sound more like the North or South Welsh. The Cornish accent sounds very South Welsh to me. And the Manx accent sounds quite similar to the typical Liverpool accent. When I mentioned this once, my father told me that I had either gone mad or deaf haha But it's just what I hear. I'm sure you've also noticed from watching American films how the Irish accent heavily influenced the East Coast American accent (New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island etc)
Apparently the Eastern Canadian accent was heavily influenced by the Irish too, watch this guy and you'll know exactly what I mean

I thought Mick referred to the "Mc/Mac" part of names. Learn something new every day.
And I do NOT have an accent.

Recently I've started doing that; when someone calls asking for Mr. P. McMullan I ask "senior or junior?". Most times they aren't sure which one they want haha. When I'm getting mail delivered I always have it sent to "Paddy McMullan Jr." Saves trouble, although no one ever calls me Jr, mainly because everyone calls my dad Pat anyway.

You know, now that I think about it both may be correct. I think it depends on the nationality of the person saying it. I'm leaning more towards the "Michael" thing though, because there are similar names for other races/nationalities. Sambo, Shiela, etc.

Back then they picked up people at random for no real reason, and usually gave a beating to whomever they lifted. Sometimes they'd just stop you in the street and ask for ID, and one of my dad's friends did that and they let him go, then shot him in the back as he was walking away hahaha. I think we should continue all of this in the RTT!

Borat was the funniest thing I'd seen in about 15 years. I totally forgot about Bruno! Although I'm not sure if it'll be as funny as Borat, the Bruno character was one of my least favourites. But I'll definitely give it a look
Scratch that, just watched the trailer...fuck me
