i know its a bit late for this, but its on tv now and ive never seen it before. snakes on a plane. this is one pathetic movie. i cant believe how terrible most of it is. awful job on the CG snakes. AWFUL. and, they dont even look like the real snakes they used on some parts. a lot of these scenes look so forced and fake. the thing i probably hated the most was how the pilot (in his secluded cockpit) was the first one to notice a fucking snake, and then once he does SUDDENLY EVERYONE NOTICES THEM, AND THEY ALL START THIS RAGING ATTACK, SIMULTANEOUSLY

The fact that it's got the dumbest possible title should have tipped you off. Can't say I'm much surprised.
The last couple months have been a pretty good time in films. It's always nice to have seen a bunch of great movies in theaters and still be looking forward to a bunch more coming out.

I recently downloaded 'This is England', 'Mr. Brooks' and 'Eastern Promises'. Now I just need to make time for them..and other movies I recently bought and haven't yet watched.

I saw Into the Wild awhile back. Fucking great film! I hate to say it but Mr. Penn did a great job.

Hey! Once again you prove you can't read! Good deal. Not to put too fine a point on it, but there's a difference between knowing something in advance and not being surprised by it. And while I didn't sit around predicting that you would, it doesn't surprise me to see yet another instance of you being too damn thick to pick up on something that's written in 20 feet high neon lights. Everybody else in the world knew that the film was camp; if you didn't it's only your own fault, and it more than gives me the opportunity to make fun of you. So thanks, buddy.
Why do you hate to say it? Sean Penn's one of the best actors in the world and one of the only ones who can direct a film worth a damn. And he's done so before (The Pledge is boss). Plus Hugo Chavez liked Mystic River!
Saw The Mist. One of those films that's half-great and half grating. Really the director did everything right except hire the camera crew from "The Shield" to shoot it. That was pretty dumb. I guess he thought the two crews with handheld cameras and the freedom to frame as pleased, adjust focus and zoom on the run, etc, would give it a 'documentary' feel like Texas Chainsaw Massacre or The Exorcist, but it really just looked like a TV show instead. Really undercuts it. But the tension was well-wrought and the ending, while a bit of a cheap shot, hits hard. Worth the watching.

I finally saw 'Eastern Promises' last night. Great movie, but lacked depth. Definitely could have been better with another 30-60 minutes tacked on to it.
Viggo's penis disappointed me.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Granted, I don't watch 'The Shield' but my mother does.
I watched "No Country For Old Men" yesterday. It was good, but something about it didn't really click with me. I need to see it one more time.
Anybody seen it yet?

I'm not totally serious.. he just seems like he takes himself a bit too seriously in reality and its something I've always hated. He really is a great actor and, from Into The Wild, a good director (never seen any of his other films).
Speaking of Mr. Penn, I was watching The Game the other day and I totally forgot he was in it! While some of that movie's events are pretty far-fetched (SPOILER: like knowing he would jump), I still love it.
TD: Lighten up! No wonder you didn't get Snakes.
And what the fuck is this 4chan shit?

I just saw it tonight. I liked it a lot and I agree on everything you said except the camera work didn't really bother me as much, though I can see where you were coming from. Now I'm interested in reading the book.
A few of the previews they showed have me interested as well.

Yeah, he's something of an ass in real life, but it's not like you have to be friends with him to appreciate him as an artist. You really shouldn't let anything you hear about how somebody acts, or even how they work, affect how you take in their work, however hard that might be.
I saw No Country for Old Men. I dug it, though it was pretty much just a straight adaptation of the book, except that the second coin flip scene had been rearranged slightly to change Chigurh from the most extreme example of fate to something more like random chance (plus a few other more minor alterations). Given that it's the Coens, I thought it might have been an exercise in doing an adaptation perfectly straight, with no irony at all whatsoever, which might be why it didn't do much for you.
I also saw I'm Not There, which was pretty boss.

Yeah, I know. I had the same problem with Pantera. Well, not the same problem because I'm not intentionally not liking Penn's work - I just have a thing about it. Maybe I was raped by my mother on angel dust.
I was wondering how I'm Not There would turn out. I'll have to check it out.

Saw "the bird people of China"
This movie was really cool, Japanese movie.....I believe Miike did it.
And it's not his usual kind of film.
Watched Terminator, the first one for the millionth time.
I have to say it's still badass.........it's still heavy, even the stop animated/puppet robot effects.
They should of never made sequels, or if they did, it should of been taking place in the apocalyptic future. Those little scenes reference possibly a greater movie that could of been made.

Supposedly they're making it now. And by 'they' I mean McG and Christian Bale. So the actor playing John Connor's pretty good but the director sure does suck, meaning the movie will be pretty terrible. But along with that and the new Fox TV series, there are apparently a few more sequels coming along, all of which have nothing to do with James Cameron. But they're getting to the point that there's not really any excuse not to set them in the future, if only because the time travel assassination attempts are getting pretty old. Then again, "24" runs on the premise that the same person is repeatedly thrust in the center of huge terrorist plots that are invariably dealt with within 24 hours of discovery, and since this is turning into a real franchise we might just get some repeating going on.
If 'boss' means 'good' in scouse, then I think I've been speaking that way since I lived in NYC in the 50's.

I seen the trailer for the terminator show.
90210-esque, it was terrible on a level that almost seems intentional.
saw Jesus' son, a 90's junkie-drama in the vein of trainspotting and the like, it was entertaining at parts but very disorganized on purpose, wasn't that good or meaningful at all.
It also strikes me as being really cliche' of the genre which seems dated and rather pointless. I liked trainspotting.........but I admit it's really negative in glorifying drug use and self-destruction.

Watched A Clockword Orange yesterday. Highly entertaining film, going to check out the novel after I finish up Pet Sematary. The only thing I don't like about the film is the British slang that I don't understand.

i don't think it's british slang. good movie though..a bit drawn out in the middle towards the end i suppose. the book is also good, a little less tame than the movie since nobody actually had to do all the things.

Watched the Lake House last night and it was an awesome romance movie. Also watched Super Bad which is a great comedy, "Dude is that blood on your pants? Have you been dancing with a girl?" lmao....

Yeah, the Evangelion movie (and series, but that doesn't count) kicks the crap out of Princess Mononoke. Jesus, I haven't seen either in at least five years. I remember liking Akira and Vampire Hunter D the best out of the huge, stinking, massive heap of anime film out there (although, again, its been a good long while).
Probably the best news I've heard in a long time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1uGaICy8Po
If they really do it and make an Arrested Development movie I would SHIT myself stupid.

indeed new animated films are not like those when we were kids, like disney's classic in 2 dimensions, but sometimes pixar give a good job with a good movie like Monster inc. toy story ect...
im a kid...

saw 'I Am Legend' earlier tonight.
I expected it to be bloody aweful, but it surprised me in actually being really enjoyable.
The sound was fantastic having no soundtrack other than some bob marley tunes, but the contrast between the really loud parts and the deadly silent parts were fantastic. the shocks (bits that made me jump) were spot on, it's been the first film for a very long time, even perhaps ever that i totally did not see some bits coming that made me jump. there are also some ridiculously tense scenes (in the pitch black building the deer ran into).
I thought Will Smith was great in it and the dog was fantastic as well. loved their interaction.
i love the post apocalyptic zombie films so i was probably destined to love it, i even enjoy the really shitty ones. it didn't do anything new for the genre, but i felt it did everything right and satisfyingly (that most films seem to fuck up). some bits were left vague or a little confusing, but i didnt see anything that ruined it.
the only disappointing bit was the ending which left a lot to be desired, i'd like to see the original ending they shot just to compare.
I did think it was good though, worth a watch and i'd go see it again i think.

Watched May last night. Great film. Quite disturbing. I'd reccomend it to anyone who likes Hard Candy or any other twisted, depraved movies.
Also watched Urban Legend (the first one) Good film, but it gets boring when you see it the second time

I've been watching indie zombie films lately.
Fido, Boy Eats Girl and Zombie are the ones I've watched. AVOID Boy Eats Girl.

I saw Youth Without Youth, the new Francis Ford Coppola film.
WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?
Quite literally... I don't really know if it really happened. He says it's about consciousness, and I can kind of see that... but I don't even know if I'd recommend it. This movie is BEYOND confusing. It is so fucking abstract and weird. I like movies that make you think, but this is a whole different thing.

haha yeah ours was silent so it was great.
yeah cloverfield looks really interesting. from the trailers it looks like it could be fucking awesome but it could potentially suck. i think because it's doing something so different though (at least i've never seen of/heard of a film that's done like that). looks cool.

A friend of mine got four free movie passes and wanted to give his parents some alone time at home so he took us to see AVP2... we laughed our asses off... between the times we were yawning. I wanted to see Sweeney Todd badly but we had already missed the last show. My dad saw the play twice and told me it was amazing and that a movie would not match it.

Beastmaster, there were like 3 of them. They are terrible movies tho.
Krull. Weird sci-fi/fantasy movie from the 80's..........just truely odd but worth checking out.
Xena, warrior princess. Was a tv show that was corny but, relative to other retarded shows on tv at that time, tolerable.
There are more, I just can't think of any.

all of which there are comics he had done, he's heavily involved in the direction of those movies but he isn't really a director per say.
By profession he is a comic book artist, has been for decades.

Anyone seen the Norwegian film Uno? Its pretty good! I met Tore from Ulver (who did some of the scoring for the film) last summer and he gave me a copy and I finally got around to watching it and was seriously impressed. Its a little annoying to only be able to watch it on my computer because, as I understand it, most films manufactured in a different country won't work on regular American DVD players. If anyone has the opportunity to see it I urge you do! Plot Summary
For hardcore Ulver fans theres an embryonic form of the song EOS in the movie, too.

I finally saw Sweeney Todd tonight. I thought it was beautifully done. The dark atmosphere was spot on and all of the music is amazing. I really don't see any better candidate than Tim Burton to direct this film; the two were made for each other, I reckon. While there are some who say they would like to see something a little less typical from Burton, it shouldn't be desired or expected with this movie because, of course, it's Sweeney Todd. I personally think there is as much variety in his film catalog as there ought to be, anyway. Helena Bonham Carter and Depp fit so well together, especially for the parts they played. I really wanna see the musical now!

That's because those are really thick Scottish accents. I'm good with accents, but I had to listen very closely hen I watched that movie. But they still sound cooler than Fat Bastard

It wasn't difficult for me although I hear that comment a lot.
I'm looking for a movie who's title and actors I don't know. I saw the movie when I was young and looking back it seems awesome/hilarious and I'm dying to see it again. All I know about the movie is that it involves people exploding when they drink some kind of contaminated water (might be due to terrorists) and somewhere near the end the protagonist assembles a nail gun out of house hold items.
Anyone?

Finally saw what the movie eXistenZ which Richard has recommended several times and holy fuck, what a mind fuck. Beyond the actual plot, the theme really pokes at the subject of reality and its validity.

Clerks 2 is funny, but, like in most cases, the original is better.

The Meet the Spartans trailers piss me off. God, why can't they stop making shitty parody movies? That say hello to my little friend bit, that has been done soooo many times. Mafia was the first to do it, I believe it they used a midget too. Damn parody are so unoriginal these days.

I thought the acting was great, the cinematography was good, the way the city looked was amazing, but the CGI for the zombie-like things was horrible. The plot was thin and a lot went unexplained. Like you said, it started off good, but it just didn't seem to go anywhere. I kept expected something more to happen, but never did. There's a lot that bothered me about it, but there's some that i liked. It's worth seeing, but not seeing again. Worth renting, but not to go see in theatres.
EDIT - I'm referring to 'I am Legend', by the way.

90% if movies are now either about a male nanny who was a FBI Agent/Cop/Etc, a team of two cops, or a parody. No lie.

Well I just watched Clerks II last night. Call me crazy, but I thought it was funnier than the original. Randal had funnier lines, and Jay & Silent Bob were fucking awesome, funnier than in the first.

man... i know. its seriously pathetic. these guys that are making them now, have it all wrong. ive seen a number of stupid, but still funny/decent parody movies, and i think they were all before '07. Not Another Teen Movie sucked, but it had that obvious half well done, half terribly done. Scary Movie has done pretty good, i think. then we have the fucking TERRIBLE shit that is Date Movie. really...wtf. Epic Movie... pathetic. yes, they are supposed to be stupid, but they are also supposed to be funny or something along those lines.

i LOVE both clerks, two of my favorite movies. the only cinema movie i own is the clerks 10th anniversary box set!
speaking of funny movies that shark in "strange wilderness" is hilarious. way funnier than it should be

haha yeah, it happens twice in a row too. I also love it when Randal goes on his Lord of the Rings rant and pisses that guy off so bad he pukes
And near the end during the donkey show when Jay runs outside... "Guys quick, he's gonna cornhole the donkey... with his weiner!!"

I finally saw Mallrats for the first time the other day. Pretty good, but i expected more from it by the way people have hyped it up for me. I loved the dude who was staring at the 3d image of the sailboat, but couldn't see it. It definitely had it's moments, but it's got nothing on Clerks, but i didn't really expect it to.

^Mallrats is hilarious and it is totally rewatchable.....but you're right. It has NOTHING on Clerks, which happens to be the funniest movie of all time.

I've never seen it, but I'm thinking of renting it tomorrow. If I like Clerks & Clerks II, will I like Mallrats?

Yes you will. Jay and Silent Bob play a bigger role in Mallrats.

Perfect, they are my favourites.
