ive seen a couple of framus cabs and heads on ebay but i dont no anything about them does anybody know??? i would assume that they are a fairly good brand because the cab was $4000 and the head was $4500 AUS

i have a framus dragon 4x12 straight cab with v30's and it's schweet! i'm also probably getting a cobra head in a couple weeks here.(no i'm not selling the powerball for it).

my friend has a cobra and it's just devistating. the most low end i've ever heard out of an el34 loaded amp. the overall sound is very tight and defined, the gain and lows stay tight and usable even when cranked way the hell up. the cleans are also very nice, and the crunch channel is warm and flexible, and it takes pedals really well.

i am thinking about purchasing a new amp myself and it is between the cobra and the powerball. as far as i know the cobra only has 3 channels and the powerball has 4. in all reality if i got the powerball i would probably only use the 3 channel because the 4 channel is way to hot in my opinion. what to you guys think.

the framus has 3 channels with completely independant eq's. but the way the powerball's 4 cahnnels are set up is a bit different.

the clean and crunch channels share the gain, low and mid controls, but have separate highs.
the 2 lead channels have very little difference in gain, and they share the same eq. but you have switchable mid controls. focused mids and open mids.

so for example i have my main tone set to the lo lead, and the focused mids, with the hi lead channel having the open mids.. giving them different voicings.

honestly though, who needs more than 3 or 4 channels anyways?

as far as sound goes... different beasts. imo, the cleans on the framus own the powerball, but that's not to say the powerball has shitty cleans, they're actually pretty good. the framus is definately more low end heavy, but the powerball still doesnt mess around. the amount of gain on both is about the same really. it's just ridiculous, i keep my gain about 4. volume is basically the same. they're both really tight sounding.
the powerball hates overdrives, the cobra works great with them. but it's not like you "need" a boost pedal for either amp, it just depends on the sound you want.

i wish the powerball had built in midi mapping like the cobra. but i haev the z-11 so it's not a problem.

i like the the looks of the powerball better.

I used to have a framus cobra head. But I sold it to get a engl savage se 120. So I sold the head and cab to buy the engl. And now I have a engl savage head with no cab standing around so I can't use it -_- How smart am I

a savage se... totally different from the regular SE. the savage se is basically a savage 120 but running 4 el34's in the poweramp instead of two 6550's, aswell as a couple other little features here and there, and a cosmetic change.

Man, Framus is the way to go! I am so happy with my tone, I run two Corba heads, one dry and the other with my effects thru the f/x loop thru 2 Cobra 4x12. I love the fact that they are midi switchable too, and easy to program aswell. Framus seriouslly destroys!

the dragon cab sounds ridiculous with both my splawn and my engl powerball. and my friends cobra.

any word on what kind of genre the head will fall into? i mean, they have the dragon and the cobra which are both amazing high gain multi channel heads... then the ruby riot combo is just a completely different style of amp for a completely different market of guitarists...
