f-spaced in the neck position

Alright, for christmas i got a dimarzio x2n and paf pro. x2n for the bridge and paf pro for the neck. but i had both of them f-spaced. when i went to the shop to have them installed, the guy told me that having the pickup f-spaced at the neck wasn't a good idea. he said since the string spacing narrows toward the nut, the spacing of the magnets to the strings will be a little bit off. then he said i won't notice much of a tone difference, its just that it will look a little funky because the magnets won't be spaced perfectly under the strings. will i have any problems playing if the magnets aren't spaced perfectly under the strings? i figured since i have a floyd bridge i get them f-spaced. i was just wondering if this little dilemma would make much of a difference in tone or anything like that. thanks guys. i'll post pictures once i get my guitar back

i cant see how theres a problem, if you have a neck pickup which is f spaced for a floyd and you have a floyd rose on your guitar , i m pretty sure that the pickup will align perfectly with the strings, if not take it back and get the normal one, but i doubt that you'll have to.

Pickups only need f-spacing in bridge not in neck pos.

Just try it and see if it sounds good and if it sounds like crap then bring it back.

Do you have to have a f-spaced pickup to fiit a floyd rose equipped guitar ?
Otherwise I have a little problem coming my way.

I read that the f-spacing was derived from Fender guitars.

Correct. And eventually it was then made for Floyds.

But yeah, I'll try out the pups, and if I made a mistake, then I will have to exchange em. Just don't know how that would work over the net

I bought a Seymour Duncan Invader (don't really like it, but hey, thats not the point). It is specifically a bridge version, but the pole peices are still close together and as a result the bass side isn't really centrally under my low E string. Because the pickup is so hot, it doesn't seem to make a difference.
