Man, I managed to pawn off my line 6 h/s on a local music store as trade in value on a new amp. I had planned on getting marshall valvestate or one of their other pre-tube amps but ended up walking away with a jcm2000 dual super lead 50 watt head and a 1960 4-12" oversize cab. With the trade in value on my spider I ended up paying about 1500 for the whole setup. Considering that the list price on the head is somewhere around 1400 by itself, I got a hell of a deal. When I unloaded it into the studio I just sat there looking at it for a good 20 minutes creaming my pants. I'll get some pictures of it up soon....very soon.

It was the spider 2 modeling head with spider cab. I got the 1960 dual lead oversize 4 "12 cab.

Monsieur, marshall doesn't make "oversized" cabs, Mesa does.. alltho marshall cabs are pretty big compared to others *ENGL*

There are a couple of marshall 1960 cabs, the most common for metal is the 1960A/B and the 1960AV/BV
The difference is that the first mentioned has those gt75t speakers or whatever their names was and the AV/BV has vintage 30's

btw now when I think about it, marshall has one hell of a big cab, I think it's called 1960 TV or something, it has greenbacks, is that the one you meant?

They make the MF280/400 cabs and they are oversized yes.

and then the mode four cabs are a little bigger than the regulars aswell..

no "1960-dual lead-oversized" model to my knowledge, and i thought i had marshall all figured out.

i guess compared to your puiny old line 6 cab, a regular 1960a would seem huge though.

anyways, for the new prices marshall has been asking, $1500 for the dsl 50 halfstack is pretty good... but then again you didn't just pay $1500, you paid $1,500 + your old halfstack. so you really ended up paying like full price.
just to ruin your day.

i personally would have sold the line 6 for cash, and then bought the dsl50 halfstack used for like $1,000 total.

WHAT the hell were the people at the pawn shop thinking? WHAT did you tell them? WHO authorized that trade? Its too, too good. I have to know every detail.

It wasn't at a pawn shop. It was from a music store brand new. Here's the killer. The retail on the spider head and cab go for around 750-800 for the half stack combo. On the trade I only got about 200 for the head and 200 for the cab resale. 400+1500=1900 = more than 600 dollars less than retail on the entire marshall setup.

i would have bought it used for half the price you still paid.
