Ampeg VH-140 combo?
Dissection, here on these forums, is in the market for a new s.s. head ... I for one think that he should go for the Ampeg VH140, as personally I feel that its simply the best s.s. head you can buy. He has the oppurtunity right now to snag an Ampeg VH-140 combo for 300$ in o.k. condition ... Only thing is, its 70 watts a channel. He would be able to plug it up to a 4x12 ... Will that be loud enough for our very own bugfucker? Only time will tell ...

Its advertised as "140 watts" which is why I'm not sure. Speaking of which, I should go talk to my dad about it.
Oh, and if its not gonna be able to run a 4x12, would it still be able to power a 2x12? Because honestly, a 4x12 might be overpowering with two guitarists.

Oh, and i can't buy that Hughes and Kettner. The guitarist needs the head for their tour, and he doesn't have a backup head.
Oh, and one more thing: Should I get the combo, or hold out for a head...?

I know, I'm just saying I wasn't sure if it was only running 70 watts at a time, as opposed to 140.
And no, its my money, CS. He already told my mom "I don't give a fuck what he does with it." And considering after I get paid again, I'll be pretty well off, the $300 is nothing.

im also looking for a s.s amp head, i was considoring the shockwave but if the ampeg is better then i mite go for that.
any idea where you can buy them coz i cant find it on the ampeg website

140 watts is definately good enough to be hear with. It also depends on how you EQ them too.
The VH140C's have been discontinued for quite some time now. The only way you'll find one is used.
