my mockingbird loves to neck dive and i want to stop this, i'm sick of holding the end down with my forearm to keep the head up. and yes it has a leather strap any suggestions?

Basically you cant stop neck dive, some basses have that, you just have to deal with it, your shoulders will get used to it having that weight after a while and it shouldnt be a problem..

The only suggestion i can make is heighten the strap, should be less strain on you.

its not a problem for my shoulders, its more of a problem for my arms because i either have to hold the neck up while tryiny to fret or hold the back end down while tring to pluck/slap, alot harder to slap, can't use a pick my at all, not that i care to much, it seems that just using my fingers is the only option, please if you can tell me how to transfer this holding up of the bass from my arms to my shoulders i'd be greatful

Well again, heightening the strap should mean you dont have to hold it up, its already there and your arms can just move into place, its easier for slap, easier for fingerstyle.. and even.... picking if you wish too.

my suggestion is get a new bass if you cannot stop it. As a matter of fact, considering you have a bc rich, get a new bass no matter what

Just move the strap holder to where i've shown it in the pic. I did it with my Thunderbird and now it's really good.

now that i've got that out of the way, burning from within, in that pic it looks like a mocking bird, has that stopped the neck diving? also its a platnium so there is the metal plate there, what should i do, put it some where near by, but where? above? below? to the side?

Moving the strap holder, to where 'burning from within' has shown and circled on the pic..

I guess thats the difference between the bolt-on version and the neck-thru, did you heighten the strap? how did that go?

height of the strap seems to have no effect on on neck diving what if i were to put the strap button on where one of the screws for the metal plate, would that work? and which screw should it be on?

IME, using a wider strap seems to help, I guess due to the increased surface area in contact with you. But +1 again for heightening the strap.

drill a hole the same size as the screw and just move it to on top of where the metal plate is

i'd rather not drill what if i were to put it where the top left or right(in the pic) screw on the metal plate. i'm pretty sure the screws are the same size so the strap button should fit, would this still work? it would save me having to drill into the wood which would save alot of time and money cause i know i won't do it, it'll end up very very bad

look at my bass and you'll see how that'll be hard, i'm just asking if it would work if i put it on the screws on the metal plate, it saves me having to drill into my bass

EDIT: moved strap button onto metal plate screw, feels great now doesn't want to neck dive at all

Hmm, your getting him to drill into the wood neck? you might want to think that through a bit, you dont want to drill into the trussrod and mess the neck up completely..

has not one read the edited part of my post? its fixed, doesn't neckdive at all now, moving the strap button to one of the neckplate screws worked like a charm

its nowhere near the truss rod. look at the fucking pic!!!!!!!!!!! im telling him to drill in the joint of the BODY not the NECK!
