Is This Even Possible???

Can you install active EMG pickups into a guitar that comes stock with passive BDSM humbucking pickups? I didnt know if it would be either difficult, because of active pickups using 9V batteries, or if it was even possible. Also, would it be easier just to get the EMG-HZ passive pickups instead, or are they absolute shit compared to the active 81/85 pickup configuration. By the way, the guitar is a Platinum Pro Warlock by B.C. Rich...

Thanks for the info guys...

You can install active EMG's but you would probably have to route a cavity to put your battery in or you would have to put it in the back electronics plate, just as long as you find something that would hold it in place.. I would honestly just get EMG-HZ's, they might not sound as good as an 81 but they would be allright, I hear the dude from Children of Bodom uses them so they gotta be at least pretty good.... The next guitar I wanna get has EMG-HZ's, it's the Jackson DKMGT.....

I got the same guitar and Im waiting for my ZW set to arrive. it is possible since the active pickups come with pots and a jack, you just have to look closely and understand the wiring at www.emginc.com

dude, just dont listen to travI56669, emg-hz's are fucking shit, theres no way to describe them except shit. seriously, the emg actives are amazing pickups, but the emg-hzs are just poor.

the hz's would sound even worse in your bcrich because of the wood, alexi has a great guitar with shit hot gear, its no wonder he can get a decent tone out of it.
you on the other hand, i assume, dont have the best gear in the world, so i would just go with emg actives. plus because theyre active, the type of wood doesnt effect the tone as much as other pickups, which means that actives will still sound great in cheaper guitars.

i think emg actives are the best choice for you if you want to get a decent tone. you might aswell spend that bit extra as you will be happier in the long run. i gurantee you that one you install the hz's, you will not be entirely satisfied.

oya, if you need to do some routing for the 9v battery, who cares, do it, its worth it, get someone whos good with wood, or do it yourself, its not hard.

i hope that helps

Hhhmmm..... Every guitar I played that had EMG-HZ's sounded pretty damn good to me but whatever, and all he's just looking for feedback, so I gave him mine..... And honestly, if Alexi from COB can afford all kinds of crazy gear I think he'd be able to score some new pickups for his guitar, but isn't it custom anyway?..

It's personal preference. One man likes the emg hz the other one the active set. somebody like the duncan designed pickups. the other one real seymour duncans. Nothing is best. it's just what YOU think sounds best

The thing about HZs they are usually put in shit or lower end guitars. Higher end LTDs for example use EMGs .
In my personal opinion HZs suck ass.
