it's easy as fuck really. when you wanna downtune ( or not of course but want a thicker gauge string ) buy a thinker gauge strings. string it up. the bridge probably will lean forward. loosen the screws on i the back of the guitar. untill bridge is straight. re tune the guitar. keep repeating this untill guitar stays in tune and bridge is straight. afterwards you might wanna check intonation and neck relief.
To adjust neck relief fret the first fret and the 14th fret and measure the room left between the string and the top of the 7th fret. there should be a small space left. just enough to see light. if there's no space at all you need to loosen the truss rod. if there's to much space you need to tighten it.
As for intonation. tune a open string. than check the tuning while fretting the 12th fret if your tuning device gives the same note the intonation is good. if it's a bit lower you need to adjust the saddle thingy ----------> that way. if it's too high you need to adjust it <------------- that way
