I'm looking for any information on 'oriental' (japanese/chines etc) material for geetar. Have ran a search but there isn't much beyond a couple of questions and maybe the odd scale.

Can anyone tell me or link to some of the basics? I have a lot fo the scales down and more 'importantly' know which scales to use on guitar pro's scale tool.

Know of any bands/'compositions' to listen to to get inspiration?

Also, can anyone suggest how to get a decent clean tone? Such as using effects to get a typical sounding tone, on GP it's called a 'koto'. Sort of like a plinky guitar.I have a 5150mk2 and it sounds shat. Have access to effects on an AX1500 model or something

It doesn't alter the sound that much, but to make it more "plinky" pick a bit nearer to the bridge.

As for pieces to get inspiration from, I know Nile and Jason Becker have used Hirajoshi and such, but it's not that prevailent. Outside of rock, I can suggest some Anime soundtracks such as Haibane Renmei and Naruto, very Oriental in places but it's not always guitar.

hey, i have a slammer centaura guitar and the flyd rose wont go down far enough and wont go back at all dose any one know y this might be happening?

yea, i've heard one of those, and seen a person play it. they used like a block of wood. i say try a coin of a peice of wood near the bridge. the coin should be very clicky, and i haven't tryed wood. but i've been trying to figure those things out too.

try this lick for an asian sound. thats the mini scale i mixed c maj penitonic with a blues penitonic. its a movable scale patern. enjoy

and if u want to increase the scale by one note go up to one tritone. and u will hear the asian melody sing, just make sure u do a slide up to 15 from 12

i like messing with zhong-hu that insturments the shit. if u dont know what that insturment sounds like, it sounds like a violin just its more like somone singing/crying. its has a very emotional sound to it, which is very rare, but priceless
