Vented snares
i was at the local guitar center a while ago and was just lookin around and noticed they had a used OCDP vented snare drum. I played it and fell in love with it, but was hesitant to pay $600. A few days later i descided to get it and went to go pick it up and it was gone. I have been looking for a snare drum ever since then, and cannot find one that is even close to the sound that i heard that day. I could just order one from OCDP but waiting about a year for it and paying $1000 isn't what i have in mind. Anybody know of any other snares or preferably a vented snare that has that OCDP sound that i want?

Yeah dude, I've been wanting to get an OCDP kit for years but have never had the funds because they're so damn expensive. I love the way the vented snare sounds...so crisp and clean with that nice sharp attack. I also love how full sounding they are(depending on what size and model you get). I think you should keep looking, but if not, save up enough to buy one brand new...despite the price.

You could always buy a cheap $100 snare and experiment on it. But yeah, I've never heard of any other company but OC making vented snares.

My drummer has a vented snare (which is kept at my house) and I LOVE to play on it. To range of volume it can produce is very impressive. Each crack you'd think is the loudest always happens to be topped.

Spaun makes amazing vented acrylic snares. If you want a wood snare, check out moondrum, they have a bunch of differant types.
