Finger blasts?

Just wondering how many of you can do Finger or Hyper blasts? Typically a hyper blast is a Suffocation blast (all hits lined up on the downbeat) at 290 bpm or higher. The stuff I've been writing has these blasts at about 330 bpm, but I use a drum machine, so I was just wondering if I'm writing impossible shit here?

when i looked at the title of the thread i thought this would be something that included bongos or something. but anyways what i do, and im sure alot of folks use this is, is you keep your hand motion in loop, your hand makes one motion down for every 2 hits<or 3 three if your doing triplet blasts>, its a matter or rebound control. i stress the fingers slightly under the stick for control but most of the motion is from the wrists.

there is also the gladstone technique, push/pull, i put up a video link and made a thread on it awhile ago you should see this guy do a one handed roll with this technique. im trying to learn this myself

Haha, yeah, drummers keep getting crazier and crazier these days. Im waiting to find a drummer who can do a gravity roll at 260, or maybe my standards are just too high.

okay yes it is possible, there are 2 ways you can do it:

Push pull blasts, I am working on these, I can get my right hand going fairly well at around 200, but Jo Jo meyer can do something like 400 with one hand, the guy is a nut!!!! with that technique

the other way is a gravity and 2 cymbals (Flo style) or you can straight wrist it, but if the blasts are for a long period of time, it would be VERY hard for a drummer to sustain that speed blast for much more than say 10 sec I think Hellhammer can do a 308 blast for about a good length of time, and Mike Mangini can do a 320 sustained rol, but 330 is puching it for pure wrist motion

One of the Vornagar pages (I think it's on Marco's Myspace) has some links to videos of Marco drumming for Vital Remains, where you can clearly see his blasts... I think it's what you explain here.

I just do blasts with single wrist motions, I don't get the technique you're describing, although I've tried it. I can do a gravity roll with either hand, faster than my single blasts but not topspeed or anything yet.

well not at that speed, but HellHammer uses the same technique for slower blasts, and of course Buddy rich did it a lot, and he was loud enough!

but point conceeded it isn't really 400 bpm blast, I did exagerate a bit, but it is still the fast I have heard anyone with one hand play a cymbal without gravity (which you can do off the bell of the ride, but it is really hard to nail right, I can do it, but not live and not first time round and it is still very shoddy)

it is still fucking sick though!!
