N.C. function
Can anyone explain how to use it correctly? How does it work in relation to labeling chords...?

You just put the cursor on the place you want to insert the N.C and press C (make sure caps lock is OFF). From what I understand it's just there show you that there are No Chords being played in that particular spot.

Well, I kinda realized that, but there are some kinda dumb, elaborate rules about when you use it after chords and stuff.

I take it your talking about the PTA rules?. That's what I mean, if you have a section/part with just single tones before or after a chord you need to mark it with an N.C to show that no chords are to be played. Take this little tab I did for for the intro to alpha breed from example.

THANKS
Much appreciated, that makes sense now. My tabs are one step closer to being perfect!

No worries. Unfortunately all tab downloads/uploads at the PTA have shut down until these stupid conflicts regarding sheet music/tabs/lyrics are sorted out. Actually, I was suprised this place hadn't done the same.

What stupid conflicts? I noticed the downloading bit wasn't working anymore, didn't read why.

Thanks for the article. That fucking sucks. Like Necrophagist or Dissection will bring out a tab book. But probably they're targetting powertabs.net because of the more popular & classical music, too bad metal suffers from it as well.

Well, since we have a thread on this...
looking at D 0:54
Should I put N.C.(A) because it is tremelo picking just an a note until another chord comes along?

Nah you don't need to put in the (A) next to it, just leave it as N.C. I think you only put the name in brackets next to the N.C when there is only one chord being played amongst singletones during the next few measures/staffs. Just to imply it. The layout looks fine on your tab apart from you need a N.C at measure 34 and 54. I don't know the song so I can't comment on the accuracy.

It's not just power-tabs they're targeting, there's quite a few. I think PTA has just disabled downloads for now as a pre-cautionary measure.
On the other note, I remeber over at the Necrophagist board, Muhammed saying something about releasing a tab book one day. I reckon he will, so many people would want it.

Hmm... that reminds me of my own first post on PTA (Therion - Asgard)... that gave me a huge headache.
