Extension Outlet Questions?
Hi,
I hope this isn't too much but I've been pondering this since yesterday.
I use an extension outlet to connect the devices that are 220 watts. The extension outlet is than connected to a stabilizer. By mistake I plugged a device which uses 110 watts into the 220 watt extension outlet. The device worked for 5 seconds than stopped because the extension outlet stopped working. So than I thought the extension outlet blew but than I thought how could it blow if it takes 220 watt and the device takes 110. The device is the one that is suppose to blow. I plugged it to the wall (110 watt) and it worked properly. Later I realized that only the fuse of the extension outlet blew and I switched the fuse and than it worked properly. My question is why did the fuse blow when plugging the 110 device to the extension outlet? It was able to recognize the device was 110 and the fuse blew to save the device?
In some of my equipment it says it is more preferable to connect the power supply in a separate electrical outlet instead of sharing it with an unreasonable amount of devices in an extension cord. I use an extension that houses up to 10 and I use 4. Is that too much? Can I stay using an extension outlet?
Every time I'm done using my equipment I obviously take them off but do not disconnect the power plug from the outlet. Is there still some kind of electrical transfer when they are shutdown but still plugged into the outlet in the wall? Well that cause some kind of excessive heat and melting?
