Getting a guitar autographed...
Hmmm... I'm thinking of getting my taking my Ironbird to a show later next year to get it autographed by some bands, and I'm wondering if anyone here has gotten their guitar autographed before. The guitar is black, what kind of pen did you use? Did you stick some sort of clear sticker over it so the autograph wouldn't rub away? Just really curious.

I had a ltd m1000 deluxe. is was black. and i had the guitarist from dying fetus to autograph it a couple of years back. I just gave them a white marker.
I did nothing to protect is. and it still looks good

Yeah that looks lame...
but if you insist, try not to get it signed in a place where you will rub it naturally while playing, like where your wrist/forearm rests, or too near the controls.
and the ink does rub off pretty easily so I've heard.

How is it retarded? I'd get my guitar signed by one of my heroes if I had the chance, I mean, I wouldn't go out of my way to get it, but if they were signing and had my guitar with me, I would. Anyways, if I were gonna get it signed, I'd get it in the back of the body, or the headstock or something.

I took the black plastic controls cover and got it signed by Kerry King, he used a metallic silver marker, looks good and I didn't have to bring my guitar, just unscrewed the cover plate and put it in my pocket.

I've seen other people lugging theirs to shows and getting them signed, and they left with their guitars intact.
My guitar doesn't have a picguard. I'm also bringing my CD to get it signed but I'd also like to get my guitar signed, as I worship Trey Azagthoth as much as I worship Morbid Angel as a band. It's going to be a Morbid Angel/Behemoth/Krisiun show in March, btw, in case you're curious. Maybe I can get Nergal's autog. too but I definately want Trey's. Hail to the Ancient Ones! I'm definately going to try to get Sanders' and Vogg's at a Nile/Decapitated show in Feb too.

I went to some music show in Birmingham (UK) some months ago called "Music Live" it was just a convention thing... anyways, Michael Angelo Batio was there and my mate got his guitar signed, it looks pretty cool but his guitar is some crappy cream coloured epiphone SG custom something. Personally I don't know if i'd like to lug my guitar to a gig to get it signed, but since it's Trey... it's probably worth it

i wouldnt do it, get a shirt or something instead. it could rub off on the guitar, and would last very long, id rather get a piece of paper or merch singed then laminated, or put in a case, so you can keep it for a long time
my friend got the linner notes of Hopeless hopes and Warp Zone signed by Martyr and ...And then Youll Beg signed by the greatest of the Cryptopsy line-ups (Lord Worm, Jon Levasseur, Alex Auburn, Eric Langois, Flo Mournier)

I took my dean mini dime to a SIx Feet Under show, Left the motherfucker in my truck under some shit and pitted my ass off. Got a free shirt after mine got tore the fuck off and after the last band befor S.F.U. went on I got my dean from hell outand took it the guys out in the parking lot loading up and had them sign it. The motherfucking guys were lining up to check this thing out and give it thier john hancock. All the bands signed it including Job for a cowboy, Thumbscrew, Beyond the Embrace, and some locals, Death Instinct. I put my shit back in truck after downing a beer wit Job for ' and went back in to check out Six Feet, after the show every body from Six Feet Under gave it a go except for chris barnes. I wasn't about to leave it half assed so I got every fuckin drunk ass around me to shout 'sign the dime'. Just when me and my bro's were about to split dissapointed. He popped out and asked where the fuck are we going. We told him, that we were gonna get some fucking tacos and then fuckin boy signed my shit in silver marker so it stands amongst all the others. Every time I look at this guitar It just feels kick ass, I sure hope they roll back through Texas with Totuer killer, cause Chris Fucken Rules. So too all fucking queers that's how you do it. And to those who say it's gay to get your shit signed you can kiss my fuckin asshole cause my shit rocks the earfffthhhhh.
