Batteries or A.C. adapters?...

I use A.C. adapters, but I read an article about how Zakk Wylde uses batteries, and even more people use batteries over A.C. adapters in their pedals because they are louder or something like that... Does anyone know anything about this?...

adapters all the way.

i don't know of any pros using batteries in their pedals.

basically with an adapter... it's like having a full battery that doesnt die... when you have an fx pedal for example, and you're using a battery with it, the sound will vary depending on how old the battery is in your pedal. usually the deader the battery, the weaker and cheesier the pedal sounds.

What's that thing that some AC adapters have, that simulates the "sag" of dying batteries, and they say that the effect becomes more intense?

Well at least for me it makes a difference. Using batteries gives me a cleaner louder sound (except if the batteries become drained) without artificifial sound when using the AC adapter. So I rather use batteries.

Its a plot! The battery companies are paying pros to claim they only use batteries in order to boost sales. Its the same scam Krank amps uses.

I always used AC's when your battery gets low even the least bit low you can tell the lag difference in the sound.

Yeah, Dime pretty much got Krank started by 'playing' them, but he has so much rack gear it doesn't even matter half the shit that's in there... I'm not even interested in Krank, I think the only time i'd play them is if they had them at GC, but they don't spark my interest....

Use battery for wah's and fuzztones I use old everreadys with my wah's,you get a better sound IF your wah and fuzz are vintage, even my 76 MXR phase-90 sounds better with batterys.Everything else use AC.At 99cents each, you can afford to put new ones in every 10-15hrs.

Right on! You guys should try using batteries in all pedals like wahs and fuzzes/OD/distortion boxes. Use batteries on older vintage styled pedals (MXR, EH, etc..) Do not use alkaline batteries unless the pedal expressly says to. Use AC adapters in time based effects, eq's, compressors, etc. You will notice a subtle improvement in the overall tone of your rig.

Btw, does it matter what brand the adapter is?

Im using a Boss DS1 distortion pedal atm, so would it matter if I use a non-boss adapter for it?

I have been using batteries until now, but want to get an adapter. I just wondered if you guys have had any problems with this (two different brands).

Normally there shouldnt be any probs I think, but well - just tell me!

Boss just says only to use boss pedals, because they can make an additional 20 bucks on already overpriced pedals.

I used an Ibanez adapter (cheap, 5 bucks) with my boss pedals, and there was no problem at all.
