VHT Amps???

Has anyone here ever played one? I got a chance today and that amp totally blew my mind. Mesa's and Marshalls dont even come close, really. The only problem is that they want like $2795.00 for the damn thing. Just wondering if anyone has played on one and seen some prices for them. I kinda feel like this shop is tryin to rip me off.

i dont think it was a retarded comment really, marshalls and mesa's are only good for the classic metal kinda sounds, any thing modern n nu-metal sounding wont be found in these amp's unless you have a pedal etc etc etc

what are youtalking about? the rectos are basically the standard in nu metal... kinda like 5150's in the hxc scene.

with a comment like that, i'd be willing to bet you havent spent much, if any time on a mesa, or a high end marshall. i mean, "only for classic metal"? is that why so many modern metal bands play them? hell, even death metal bands play them, without pedals.

anyways... as far as one being better than another.. it's a really a subjective matter. and having played a few vht's, i really do like them alot. the pittbull UL is a sick amp, but make sure you grab one used. because it's like a $1,000 difference.

That actually sounds like a good idea. If only I had about... $1200 more in my budget, I could buy one.

When I said that mesa's and marshalls dont compare I wasnt putting them down that is just how impresive the vht sounds. There just as brutal sounding as the rectos but there also as clear as a bell. With me triple rec I find I like the distotion better when I use a pedel thru the clean channel, on the vht ,that is soooo not necesary.
Hey, what do you guys think of getting a recto modded by voodoo amps. They say that they can clear up all that muddy flubby shit that mesa's are known for and get it pretty close to the vht sound.I figure it might be a good idea to spend 300 on the mod instead of 2700 ont the vht.

not to put you down, but, i'm just saying, hundreds of pros have no problems getting great tones from STOCK mesa's and marshalls...

you want to clear up that "muddy flubby shit that mesa's are known for" turn down the bass and gain, and turn up the mids a little. i think one thing that works miracles for mesa's, is simply tweaking them... the most extreme situation, i'd say pop in some el34's...

of course, a vht pittbull still sounds nothing like a recto. and i'm not huge on modding one amp to sound just like another more expensive amp... it's usually just turd polish...

if you're looking for a tight high gain sound. you have more options than just vht. check out engl and framus amps... bone crushing high gain, and super tight sounds.
