Hey, who has played a krank? Which is better, the revolution or the krankenstein?

Didn't you just make this exact same thread not too long ago? or was that someone else? Anyway I believe that the just of the last thread was that Kranks are utter shit. And I forget who it was that came up with this ingenious quote but it went a little something like "friends don't let friends play kranks".

There are MUCH better amps for which you can blow your money on than a Krank (especially in that price range). Try looking into something like a blue voodoo perhaps. If you get one used you can save alot of cash.

But if you just simply must have your Krank I'd have to say the Krankenstein is better.

altough this topic was dicussed before i have to do a stament here. all guys who wanna play krank amps do it cuz dime used them/ was endorsed by krank. then those guys see "wow they arent that expensive... dimes sound owns .. so lets buy one". thats bullshit. dime has stage equipment prolly costs over 20k. it was not the amps what were important for him. he had tons of gear and if you know how to do it you can get a friggin shit amp sound like and top botique amp. you just need the cash an the know how. the result therefore is that making an "bad" amp sound good is more expensive than buying a decent one with great tone. his randalls sounded awsome too ... now check out the randall without anything and compare it to an engl.

Yea I've played a krank and the distortion on it is the most horrible sounding distortion I have ever heard. In my book it has to be the absulute worst sounding amp I ever played on hands down. All anyone has to do if they wanna know about krank amps is simply go and play one and then play a known good amp and you will see why everyone here hates them.

i've heard worse... but then again, that "worse" was coming from a rogue tuberider.

I think my favourite Krank ad ever was the Matt Bachand one, where he's singing backup vocals, and his hair is flowing back from a fan strategically placed behind a monitor ( obviously ) ... and look at his Krank amp head in the background. No instrument cable, no CHASSIS IN THE AMP. Totally empty, no tubes or anything.

I love that ad. So much.

unless you're a huge star, you wont get krank for free, i know someone that got offered an endorsement... basically you can get krank "AT COST"(which is still too much imo) and you're stuck playing it for a certain amount of time.

Does Krank really suck that bad ?, I have heard both great and shit things , I personally rather have a Framus myself , but they are expensive but they rule for sure especially the Cobra .Thats my dream amp.

basically, the little local "botique shop" sells them... and well, when i go from playing an orange rockerverb, mesa rectos(ROADKING!),vht pittbulls, bogners, matchless, badcat, ect... .... and then for a joke, plug into a revolution...

weak gain, no low end, a super shrill upper mid freq that cant be dailed out... the cleans were good until you turn em up past 3... and it looked pretty stupid too... then i saw a $1,400 price tag and laughed...

i played the chadwick and krankenstein... pretty much the same results...

then need we not bring up the whole harmony central scandal? the last minute ditching of the return policy? the constant playing with dimebags death for publicity? the forum spam? the "great" reviews in magazines, and then you turn the page and you see a krank ad?

shitty amps made by shady people. that's my look at them.

Yes, I played another Krank today myself. The Krankinstian. Weak ass amp and cab. I liked the way the amp and cab looked, just like before, because they seem to be made with quality materials. Once you play on it you will think different. I even messed with it for a while trying to perhaps find that sweet spot. Problem is there was none to be found.

Krank are all show imo. They make a good looking setup and manage to get professionals to promote their product, but is just to pull a fast $. No matter what anyone says, play one before you buy one. They are the perfect example of why not to trust something just because professionals promote it and "you get what you pay for".

I loved it really It had ballcrushing gain. But i just sold it and got 2600 euro's for it. And this store here in aachen ( germany ) is selling a engl savage 120 se. for 2495. so I'm gonna get that tommorrow. I always loved the tone of an engl. But the framus sounded more "brutal" but the savage se has both

What if I ran a Krank cab from a vetta head? It seems that the proprietary head/cab combo myth may have just died. I seem to remember Arch Enemy running a couple of cabs off of a mesa engineering amp when they were in Vantaa a while back.
