Which Maxon pedal?
I play Death/Thrash, I wan't to get a nice dist/OD pedal.
I have heard Maxon pedals are good, I have seen a few posts recommending the Maxon OD808.
Has anyone played with the Maxon D&S or D&S II ? What was it like?
Any other recommendations (Except getting a new amp)?

the maxon od808 is to kick a tube amp in the nuts. The pedal itself isn't high gain. the other 2 pedals i'm not familiar with

what kind of amp are you using?
are you looking for a boost, or a stand alone pedal?
the d&s II is basically a ballsier higher gain od808... it's still basically a boost pedal though.

Yeah,by all means contemplate a boost, but try it out first,or make sure you can return it if you not happy.

try it with a boost... but make sure you can return it if you don't like it. normally boost pedals are for tube preamps, so with a s.s. amp it might not sound optimal.

Ok, thanks guys, I was going to get one off ebay, but I think I'll play it safe now...
Are there any decent stand alone distortion pedals?
Oh and do you have any experience with the maxon SD-9 (sonic distortion) or OD-9 (overdrive) pedals? are they stand alone as opposed to boost pedals?
