question about dunlop jazz 3's

This is a dumbass question but whats the difference between a red dunlop jazz 3 pick and a black dunlop jazz 3 pick? There both 1.38mm but people are always talking about how they use the red ones or the black ones. I think one is nylon or something but i dont get how that would make it play different.

the red ones are smoother and the black ones are a bit rougher. doesn't relaly make a difference for me. i like the black ones because i can hold onto them easier.

Yeah, I use the black ones preferentially for the grip. I find the red ones start slipping if your hands get sweaty - but if you particularly enjoy using picks with a smooth finish, you could always scratch up a red one at the top a bit.

Buy a few of both types and see what you think, the difference is not huge.

I use tortex dunlop jazz picks. Same shape and size, but has tortex for a comfortable no slip grip.

Just felt better , no other reason ,I dont use them anymore I use a pick called a wire thing that gives unholy artificial harmonic sand squeals, I picked them at a local guitar center. I use them exclusively now.
The pick is a regular pick with a thin wire coming out . I really like the control it gives me , and like I said the squeals and pinch harmonics are deadly .
You could look it up its called the wirething.

thats pretty much the same as playing with a quarter. just sand down the ridges. quarters work pretty good, just they sorta give a tapping sound on the strings

Shit, never seen anything like it,i imagine it would be rigid as fuck though, and would double wear on strings compared to synthetic materials.

Actually I think it helps you pick better and gives you more control and as I said the pinch and squeals rule.
I dont see any added wear on the strings , It may but as of yet I havent noticed it, All I could say is try one and decide, I used to use the Jazz 3s strictly but Ive switched to these.
