Question Randall Head

I recently bought a Randall RH200SC amp head, not the G2 version. I was wondering do any of you guys know what year these were made because I can't find it anywhere?
Also, when my and my friend were carrying it up the stairs to my room, he ended up tilting it almost upside down and we heard a small clanging sound like something small got loose, what do you think it was?

Maybe a dead insect, maybe a penny, maybe a lost pick, maybe the reverb box repositioning, and in the worse cast maybe a electronic componant broke lose. If it still plays then don't worry about it. The year it was made sould be indicated in the serial # somewhere. Like the last 4 # or something but I don't know for sure. You might have to find a way to decode it.

That's a good amp, i've had one for two years now... My only problem is I wish it had more knobs... I think they were made around '99 or '00 but I could be wrong, I wouldn't worry about that sound it made, a lot of equipment will make some sort of noise if you turn it upside down.... I think you will be plenty happy with it, but randall heads are wierd, it usually takes a few months to find tone that's good (Dimebag said the same about his randall head)... And by the way, it's I CAME back not i'll BE back...

Yeah man, this amp is KILLER. The bottom end is bone crushing and when I solo it really cuts through! I've had this head for only a day and a half and it really impresses the hell out of me.
I was reading reviews for this amp and I heard that there are problems when playing for too long. It overheats and the DC current gets leaked into the cabs and destroys the speakers, is this true?
I heard to fix this problem you need to install a cooling fan. But my version of the amp has a giant heat sink in the back, so do you guys think I need a cooling fan?
Thanks for the correction travI56669.
Thanks guys for the help.

Mine has a heat sink too, but I never have a problem with it overheating or whatever... Maybe that's just me because I honestly only use it an hour at a time, my band practice has a lot of breaks...

The louder and the longer you play the more any amp heats up. Heat can cause problems but as long as you take procautions you will never have to worry. You may not need a fan at all but be mindfull if you play or move the amp outside or in a car on a hot day. Let the amp cool a bit in the shade. If it starts to overheat you will know it. I have had it happen before but not with Randall. Its a solid state amp so just turn the power off when you take a brake for a few minutes and it will cool fast. You don't have to worry about tubes warming up so just turn it back on and play.

Thanks for all the help and info. Another kinda dumb question...
As of now I don't have my own cab (I use my friend's now), so is it possible to just plug in the power to the head and plug in my headphones too without a cab, without damaging any of my equipment, since this is a solid state amp?

I would'nt say that its a good idea to try and headphone it.

Great deal on the Randall, for under 400$ as a s.s. head Randall cannot be beat.
And dare I say it : With a Metal Master you can actually get decent sounds out of it, making it an excellent budget amp.

I got mine for $350 almost brand new. I haven't gotten around to trying it out with my Digitech Death Metal distortion pedal...it should make it sound even heavier than it already is...
