Name this band!
I'm looking for the name of a band I saw the music video for a few times. I went on their site and there is a live stream of this video. Since then I have slept and inevitably forgotten the band name and the song title. I don't really have a lot to go on in order to hunt it down myself.
I've been lurking the forums at MT.com for a while and thought that if anyone could help me it would be someone here.
I will type all I can remember about the video and any help would be appreciated. I'm afraid that this will be very vague.
The band consisted of four members and the video was shot outdoors. The video has some effect on it to make it look grainy and brown like an old film. The singer played guitar. The song itself was some kind of technical DM with lots of tapping descending scales and the coolest time signature changes. If there is anyone here from the UK, this video was in circulation on MTV2 120 metal minutes along with C corpse, nile and the like.
Thanks to all who can help.
And by the way I'm new, so hello.

He said it wasn't. By the way he describes it, that is exactly what it sounds like though...

I just downloaded the Immolation video. Not bad, but it's still not the one I'm after. It is however very similar. (The video that is)
The video I saw was more technical and more melodic. This is really pissing me off now cos I really liked the song then just forgot about it till before. The song is a little bit jazzy in places.

Jazzy? Was it John Zorn? Maybe something off Naked City? I haven't heard any of it, but in a jazz thread I was reading they said he does DM with jazz influences or jazz with DM. Whichever.

I doubt Naked City ever made a video. Plus it's not even DM, it's Avent-gaurd grindcore and sounds nothing like DM.

Okay. They said Avent-gaurd, but I didn't know that was another term for a specific style.

Hey everyone. Thanks for trying. This is really starting to get to me. I've tried looking for a listing of all songs that MTV2 played on 120 metal minutes but I have no luck. I tried to look through all the bands listed in the tab section but no luck. I think my only hope is if someone saw this video and remmebers it.

The singer was blonde I'm sure of it. For some strange reason I'm thinking he had dark sunglasses on or that may be my imagination messing with my memory. All I can really remember is they looked like just another DM band. The drummer was really technical with loads of blasts and stuff. There was a cool repeating tapped part too. Sorry I cant remember more I wish I could! This sounds a bit like CoB but it def wasnt them.
When the guitarist is tapping, it plays in slow motion on the video.

Avant-garde isn't a specific stylistic term. He's just saying that Naked City is in the avant-garde of grindcore, not death metal. I should also point out that about 35,000 death metal bands have jazz influences, so seeing the word 'jazz' shouldn't send you off babbling about John Zorn music you've never heard.
As for the video, that really sounds like it could be anybody. 'Harnessing Ruin' was the first thing that came to my mind as well. You don't have the website in your cookies?
