i just bought a splawn pro-mod!! it comes with an extra set of tubes and..well, im ###### stoked!


and i have a question about buying speakers. is it worth it to buy them used. i can get 4 g12t-75 that are 8 years old but were used in a backup cab for 170 shipped. so the seller sais they were not used much. i really am out of money since the amp, but is it worth it to buy speakers that could not work, or not last long?

About the speakers, its a toss up. If the guy treated them well, then theres no reason whatsoever for you to not buy them... but you can't be sure he treated them kindly.

$170 for a quad of 75's is a good deal... but make sure they work, as for pics and stuff.

and congrats on the pro mod! does it have the jj kt88 upgrade? is it the dual eq model or the shared eq?

it comes with the kt88s in it and a spare set of 6550s. its got the shared eq. from what ive heard its not that bad without it.

what kind of kt88s though? they normally come with sovteks i think, but scptt swears by the jj's... as do i.

they're jj's. ha. beside the 6550s he also sending the 4 kt88s that came with the amp. one is busted though. oh well. if im ever in need of a tube at a show or sumthing now i at least have an emergency tube.

i havent played it yet. i sent the money order but mail dont go on sundays and itll take probly two days. then at least 3 days to get back to me. he sending two packages. one with just the head and one with the 12 tubes and footswitch.

i just saved.
put my last 2 paycheks in the bank from when i worked, did oddjobs and saved from those. my birthday is tommorow and i just gathered all the money from family and shit. i havent payed for all of it. i use my parents as a bank. i even have credit. with them of course. i have intrest but since ive payed 800 straight up they're not doin interest. my marshall sucks but can be sold for way more than i paid for it on ebay. i paid 280 and i think i can sell it for 500 plus. thats almost all paid back. im gonna keep my bv for a back up and maybe experimenting/messing-things-up amp. and if i dont like it still ill get it modded or sell it too.hmmm maybe after i sell that i can afford speakers.

paypal is what i always use... $1300, you'd maybe have a $40 fee... but that $40 gives you security in knowing he has to ship you out a splawn pro mod or paypal makes sure you get your money back... with a money order, fat chance... that's why money orders are so common in scams...

its freakin great.
theres no real words to say ho it sounds. ive never played anything like it. ill never buy genereic brand amps again.hell...ill never buy another amp. and if i do i wont get rid of this one! my cab has only one blown speaker. thats better than i thought. still sucks and i cant really afford to get new ones so itll be a while. i can barely take the volume at five! it knocks pictures off the walls at five. ill need speakers soon...

yours has the half power mode right? or is it one of the REALLY old ones? mine has a 50w switch, which is kinda nice.

diddnt think it was all that old, but no it doesnt have half power mode.i thought it did but...oh well.its too good an amp to care!
